About this deal

Granted, there's nothing particularly thrilling about an entry-level single-function monochrome printer. But the Brother HL-L2350DW does print almost fast enough to hinge on being interesting. If you need terrific-looking grayscale graphics and photos, you should look at one of Canon's entry-level models, including the LBP251dw. For lower ongoing monthly running costs, consider springing for a more powerful (and therefore more expensive) machine, such as the Dell S5830dn.

In addition to writing hundreds of articles for PCMag, over the years he also wrote for many other computer and business publications, among them Computer Shopper, Digital Trends, MacUser, PC World, The Wirecutter, and Windows Magazine. He also served as the Printers and Scanners Expert at About.com. There are also a wide variety of third-party apps available to enable wireless printing through Apple devices, even to machines that are not natively AirPrint compatible printers. By sharing a printer installed on an Apple Mac or Windows Pc over a wireless network any printer may be able to take advantage of the AirPrint features. (An additional third-party app may be required to be installed on the local machine)Apple AirPrint allows full colour, top-quality printing from iOS devices such as iPhones and iPads directly from within many Apps available from the Apple App Store. WEP 64/128 bit, WPA-PSK (TKIP/AES), WPA2-PSK (TKIP/AES) (Wi-Fi Direct supports WPA2-PSK (AES) only) Wireless Certification Keeping in mind that the HL-L2350DW isn't designed to churn out sleek, glossy documents and images, it performed its allotted task—printing reasonably attractive and highly useful monochrome and grayscale documents—quite well in testing. Text looked well-shaped and legible down to the smallest point sizes I could see comfortably without magnification (about 6 or 7 points), making text output more than acceptable for all but perhaps the most exacting applications. Since 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. See how we test.

Dynamic features accommodate your evolving needs The 250-sheet paper capacity helps improve efficiency with less refills and handles letter or legal sized paper.

Setting up the Brother HL-L2350DW isn’t the smoothest experience on the connectivity front, but thankfully you shouldn’t have to bother with it more than once unless you’re moving the printer around often. Photo output is not the best I've seen, though it's respectable for this class of printer, compared with some competing models, such as the Canon LBP251dw, and it's certainly good enough for distributing in house, or perhaps embedded in larger documents. Overall, the HL-L2350dW prints well enough for what it is. During testing, I went through more than 500 sheets of paper (100 percent recycled paper, which was subsequently recycled afterward), sometimes printing upwards of 60 two-sided sheets at once to test the long-term consistency of the HL-L2350DW. My analysis showed Brother’s specifications are right on target in terms of print speed, reliability, and toner usage. Loaded with cost saving features Automatic duplex (2-sided) printing helps save on paper costs and toner save mode helps save on toner costs.
