Not only did it exude the delightful aroma of a well made burger, but the beef patty was easily one of the most flavourful we’d ever tasted, and one that was as close to perfectly minced as a burger patty could get. The food was OK, but not as good as I was hoping. The milkshakes went down well. Food was served on a flimsy plastic tray which gave the place the feel of a takeaway joint.

I was not overwhelmed, just nervous. The atmosphere was fairly sparky, if one was clairvoyant enough to see beyond the feigned relaxed postures. I remember much later meeting a schoolteacher acquaintance in the local high street. ‘Hello Ron, you look relaxed and on top of things.’ ‘What? I’ve got this and that going wrong and some bugger’s not paid me for the next thing!’ ‘Ah!’ says he, ‘The Swan Syndrome: appears graceful above the water but paddling furiously below.’You can find us right on the bridge at the end of Eton High Street or across the bridge from Windsor. Above all though, the staff were really attentive & helpful and actually didn’t make us feel uncomfortable about attempting to eat out with our kids, which for us is half the battle! Well done & thank you Flaming Cow. I only wished we lived closer…. My daughter could choose a large selection of the normal menu and just swap the bun (Why don’t more restaurants do that??) and my son thoroughly enjoyed his burger & chips. And whilst there was plenty of the ketchup, mustard and American cheese, it was all about the taste of the textured meat that floored us.
