Für mich jedenfalls bleiben nach nun etwas über drei Jahren einige Momente noch immer unvergessen. Das kann ich nicht von jedem Buch behaupten.

The Swarm (Schätzing novel) - Wikipedia

The person representing the United States (the one I don't want to discuss), wants to kill all Yrr, and she knows how to do it. Somehow we're made to believe that killing a species who's determined to erase mankind and destroys half of the earth while doing so is a bad idea. Wolfgang Kramer and Michael Kiesling designed a board game based on the book, published originally by Kosmos and in English by Z-Man Games. [12] Each player represents a nation competing in attempts to communicate with The Swarm, and the winner is determined as the most successful researcher.

After the Ixa had smashed the galaxy to bits they were defeated. The captain of the ship, Captain Husher had sounded the alarm in decades since. So that the Ixa's creators would one day return and finish the job. Emphasis is given to such topics as the modeling and analysis of collective biological systems; application of biological swarm intelligence models to real-world problems; and theoretical and empirical research in ant colony optimization, particle swarm optimization, swarm robotics, and other swarm intelligence algorithms. Articles often combine experimental and theoretical work. War with the Newts: a 1936 novel by Karel Čapek which chronicles humanity's unexpected encounter with a sentient aquatic species. BTW, if you ever asked yourself how you can possibly make trained military dolphins boring, read the book! It's a great step by step guide.

Lifeless - Swarm Book 7: (An Epic Post-Apocalyptic Survival

Doelger said he had avoided leaning too heavily on parallels with the Covid pandemic and human-made climate change. Developing secure defenses again a violent alien race the government reverts to breeding child geniuses and training them to be soldiers. Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, a brilliant boy, lives with his parents, brother Peter, and the person he loves most in the world, his sister Valentine. Ender and his sister were candidates for the program however did not make it. Yet Ender was still drafted into the orbiting Battle School for strict military training. Kann denn Recherche Sünde sein?“, Interview zu Plagiatsvorwürfen, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, 7. April 2005 The only little criticism that I'd like to point out is that the characters seem like bystanders in this whole thing. What I mean is that if you are fond of reading character-driven plots, this book is not really for you. I mean, by nature sci-fi are event-driven but some great authors still able to incorporate well-developed characters into event-driven plots like Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 or Walter M. Miller, Jr.'s A Canticle for Leibowitz, the last sci-fi I read prior to this. Both books have mind-boggling premise but the characters are involved in those and they "evolve" as the plot progresses.Solidity is a Turing complete programming language for writing smart contracts. Consider adding a topic to this template: there are already 8,917 articles in the main category, and specifying |topic= will aid in categorization.Johanson, who's not only a wormologist but a strange-thingologist, develops the following theory (we instantly know that he's right): There's an unknown species living in the depths of the ocean since the beginning of time. They are doing things because- Oh, look! An unrelated character is doing something unrelated! Shiny! We'll also be diving a little bit into Swarm and Whisper, a file storage protocol, and a peer-to-peer messaging protocol respectively, which are the other two pillars required for achieving completely decentralized and distributed applications. The Yrr (just for the record, I think that's a stupid name) are single-cell organisms and operate like tiny Borg (--> The Star Trek works because the book swings the moral bat worse than Captain Picard, sadly without having any of his boyish charm). Military science fiction focuses on military or government agency figures. Space operas revolve around civilians. If the protagonist(s) is a coordinated government team...Military science fiction. If they are a rag-tag group of scavengers or mercs... Space opera. The epilogue reveals that a year later, mankind is still recovering from the conflict with the swarm. The knowledge that humans are not the only intelligent lifeform on Earth has plunged most religious groups into chaos. Parts of the world still suffer from the epidemic the yrr sent to destroy the threat to their marine homeland. Humanity now faces the difficult task of rebuilding their society and industry without coming into conflict with the ever-watching superpower under the sea again.

Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments This chunky novel reminded me of Neal Stephenson's work because it explored hard science fiction concepts through an epic lense. This is not a character focused story but I did not need it to be. I loved the scope of the story which felt so exciting and imaginative. Television series such as the Stargate series and Battlestar Galactica have become cult classics for science fiction aficionados. You can clearly see the dedication of the fans throughout the Convention and Comiccon circuits.
