About this deal

Se è vero che sbrodolo dietro alla scrittura di Moore, è altrettanto vero che Swamp Thing gode di tavole meravigliose. Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. Fra tutti gli incespichi di pubblicazione, e la moltitudine di versioni uscite negli anni, ho sempre atteso che qualcuno venisse a mettere in ordine la situazione perché, devo esser sincero, non capivo davvero COSA comprare.

The Art as well makes me really stare at the Image to take everything in, and the way it’s all sequentially told is beautiful. My brother and I rapaciously watched the movies and TV series as kids, and we collected all of the figures from the short-lived animated series. I’ve spent the past 3 days pouring over these pages and have gone back and read numerous issues just to gawk at how accomplished Moore was even before books like Watchmen and Killing Joke.Even saying that about one of the greatest comics runs of all time makes me feel like a nitpicky old asshole, yet as I said, Moore competes with himself, and this perhaps does fall short of volume one, as well as many of his other works.

Moore is great at making Woodrue a truly horrific villain while still (somehow) obeying the Comic Code that was still in place early in his run. Created by comics legends Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, the muck monster from the bayou would go on to become one of DC’s premier horror characters. I enjoyed the more comic like moments where other characters crossed in most as they had the least narration an actually felt like things were happening rather than being told. And just like I was saying on my last Swamp Thing review, it’s mighty hard to put a new spin onto something that you didn’t create. These issues where Constantine has become a supporting character to swamp thing has reminded me why John is so beloved. Alan Moore’s legendary run of Swamp Thing tales is collected in Absolute format at last, completely recolored for this new edition! I knew before going in that this run spawned the publishing offspring Vertigo into being and man, what a start.

The issues collected in the first Absolute Edition are so wildly ambitious, outstripping even Frank Miller's work on Daredevil around the same time for envelope-pushing scripting and paneling, that it's wild that the work here surpasses it. It is a little expensive and it has a twin (second volume) but if you ever wished to experience this series for the first time again, now is your chance. I purchased Saga of swamp thing vol 1 but just saw a post about absolute swamp thing vol 1 which is about twice as big. It is an improvement over the first volume, in part because it's more cohesive, consistent and there are no random stories that don't help the main plot. This is just an all round great book, and a big part of the revolutionizing of the graphic novel medium.Something I would'nt recommend to a friend because my guess is they would judge it to be confusing and silly.
