About this deal

Once powered off the iO5 doesn’t remember the last mode used. So, next time you use the brush you may need to cycle through the modes if you don’t want to use the default Daily Clean cycle. For many years a large number of Oral-B brushes have alerted users if they were brushing too hard. They do this because too much force can lead to additional and unnecessary wear on the teeth and gums. If you are using the smartphone app in real-time as you brush the app will tell you which mode you are using on-screen. It doesn’t remember the last mode used It is generally pretty easy to keep the handle clean and free from grime. But, do make sure you pay close attention to the brush head. Give it a good rinse after each use.

For most, this won’t pose any issues, but for those with the most crowded of mouths, you might find it a little more difficult to position the round brush head. If using the app, it will show on the screen if you are using the correct pressure or not. Brush for longer with the help of the timer and pacer The iO4 electric toothbrush features Oral-B’s best technology, combining a dentist-inspired round brush head with micro-vibrating bristles for a professional purifying clean feel at home. The Smart Pressure Sensor helps prevent you from brushing either too hard or too softly to better protect your gums. Gum Guard alerts you to time spent brushing with too much pressure. Replace your Oral-B iO toothbrush head every 3 months for the best results. Realistically you don’t need so many. Daily Clean is more than enough for most, but sensitive mode is welcomed by those suffering with tender gums. It is too a less intense option for new electric toothbrush users to start out with.

If you want the smart features the iO5 offers, it is worth giving serious consideration to the iO6. It is often similarly priced, with perhaps a small premium. It has a display built into the handle which is more intuitive when it comes to selecting and knowing which mode is in use. As an oscillating and rotating brush, it does still feel different in use to a sonic toothbrush, it doesn’t feel as light and gentle as they often do. The iO5 is water resistant so can be rinsed under a tap The brush head is bigger than what you might be used to Unlike some brushes, the iO5 doesn’t power off automatically. The pacing is different when using the app

Decades of research, testing and manufacturing experience have gone into achieving the brushing results that the iO5 delivers. They are really good, I have no complaints. A selling point of the iO range is the cleaner and more minimal handle design. It has what many, myself included, believe to be a premium vibe. The overall size is still significantly smaller than most sonic toothbrush heads. It’s not as quiet as many other brushes, but far less noisy than non-iO models All Oral-B brushes fall short here, but the iO5 has some of the best battery performance from an iO brush. I achieved an average of 17 days of use from a full charge of the lithium-ion battery. If you’ve got a perfectly usable toothbrush already, it’s not worth the switch for this alone, it’s just a nice additional benefit. The plug on the end of the cable is a 2 pin power adapter (suitable for UK bathrooms). It will recharge the battery in up to 16 hours.

The big difference here is that there is no LED display built into the handle like there is with premium models such as the iO6, 7 8, 9 and 10. In truth the displays have limited benefit, albeit they look impressive, so no great loss here. And just because this isn’t the top of the range model, the motor’s functionality isn’t limited in any way. Thus you get as good a clean using the 4 Series as you do the 8, 9 or 10. Less aggressive on the teeth than non-iO models Redesigned for the iO Series, the magnetic brush motor produces a cleaning action which is noticeably softer and less intense, but still very satisfying. Cleaning performance is comparable between each with limited evidence to really suggest one is better than another. You’re certainly not going to get significantly whiter teeth just by using whitening mode.Instead, the protuberance on the top of the stand will fit into the recess on the base of the iO5’s handle and will recharge the brush in up to 16 hours. PROTECT YOUR GUMS WITH iO PRESSURE SENSOR, Oral-B's only one to signal if you are applying the PERFECT PRESSURE for an effective and safe clean. But something you should be aware of is that the pacer is deactivated when using the app in real-time. You don’t get the pauses in the brush motor. I do prefer the sensation you get with the iO4 compared to the likes of the Genius X for example. But, it isn’t worth switching to this brush for the different brushing sensation alone, it’s just a positive perk. The brush head is bigger than what you might be used to A single Ultimate Clean head is included with the iO4. Alongside the Gentle Care head, it is one of our preferred options from the 4 different styles of iO brush heads available.

I’ve not experienced this with the iO Series 3, which as far as I am aware has the same rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery sealed inside the handle. This is because you have an onscreen timer to guide you. The idea is you spend 20 seconds per zone, to realise the even clean.Unlike premium iO models, this is not a magnetic charger and is not capable of recharging the battery in 3 hours.
