About this deal

Moldy or mildewy showers aren’t very appealing, and this product from Mold Armor can help prevent them from occurring. The Mold Armor Mold-Free Caulk has a silicone formula with fungicides to create a 100 percent waterproof bond while also protecting those nooks and crannies from mold and mildew for 20 years. It applies easily, thanks to the convenient squeeze tube, and it’s water-ready in 30 minutes. A bathroom sealant not only makes fittings such as showers or baths waterproof but it also provides the finishing touch. To help you make an informed buying decision, we have produced the below guide regarding bathroom sealants. Caulk vs Silicone I am no expert at applying sealant....so should I apply it between masking tape, if so how do I prevent a raised edge forming by tape edges and should the tape be removed immediately or after sealant has cured? Job Done! -It’s as simple as that! Be sure not to use your bath for 24hrs to allow it to properly cure. After this, just peel away the tape to reveal a perfectly sealed tub!

Adding the finishing touch to your bathroom with a quality sealant is highly recommended. Without using a sealant, you’ll leave areas exposed to moisture, which can then lead to water damage and bacteria growth. Why did they not fill the corner with grout? Are they expecting relative movement between those walls? During our ongoing testing of bathroom sealants, we analyse their ease of application, quality and formulation (i.e. mould resistance).

Here’s the thing about Red Devil Duraguard Kitchen & Bath Caulk: the drying time is very long, and it’s important to wait to prevent brush strokes or pulling some of the caulk from the bead. However, we found that once we let it dry, it took paint well while remaining fairly flexible. We liked that it can adhere to a variety of surfaces to create a waterproof barrier, and it comes in white, clear, and tan. As baths contain large volumes of water (because let's face it, the fuller the better!), they are often prone to accidentally overflowing and other occasional wear-and-tear leakages. If this water gets down the side and underneath the tub, it can then collect on the floor which leads to flooding, rotting, and eventually, a build-up of mould. This can eventually bring along a whole host of issues including health risks and repair costs (learn more on the health risks here). When we first used this product, we thought we got a dud: The first inch of caulk that we squeezed from the tube was clear, despite the tube’s “white” designation. However, as we kept squeezing, the caulk turned white and all was well. This product was easy to apply, and the 5.5-ounce tube is a nice meet-in-the-middle between a small tube and a large caulking gun. We liked that this product created strong, flexible barriers and took only 30 minutes to dry. While it’ll take 20 years to prove that this product is as mold resistant as it claims, it works very well as a shower caulk. Without it, the gradual build-up of water could lead to costly and dangerous problems such as flooding, rotten floorboards, and considerable mould.
