About this deal

Within the Toyota Production System, Kaizen humanises the workplace, empowering individual members to identify areas for improvement and suggest practical solutions. The philosophy of Kaizen is just as easy to apply to individual change as to change in a business; it is about setting long-term, medium-term and short-term goals, then thinking of small, incremental adjustments you can make to work towards these goals. I was delighted to see one of my all-time favourite writers and inspirations, Seth Godin, release a book that looks at the creative side of kaizen in practice, or rather, the practice of creativity.

Although suffering a job loss, a relationship breakdown or a bereavement can be utterly devastating and make you feel like the rug has been completely pulled out from underneath you, they can also be the times when you learn a lot about yourself and your resilience. Be proud of yourself for making it through the day and what you have achieved, however small. This book isn’t strictly about kaizen, but it is about self-improvement and taking little steps towards achieving your goals — or choosing yourself, As James calls it. KAIZEN™ Change Model (KCM) is added to enhance a KAIZEN™ culture, mindset and behaviors of the organization. Gains made during the event are rapidly lost, as workers and managers return to the previous way or working. This book is regarding how the Kaizen way of life has changed the author's life in general and how it is applicable to our lives as well.

Defects: When a product is not fit for use it must be scrapped or reworked, adding cost to the production process without adding value. I loved how the author explained the purpose of Kaizen and how it's useful now in knowing and understanding our habits. I just want to quote, 'Kaizen is a noun in Japanese and is used to mean improvement, whether that is big or small, one-time or continuous.' Target-condition definition — often included as a visual representation for what the new improved state should look like. This can be a visual image, a flow chart, data, or a comparative look at the desired target condition. I’ve been quite interested in the psychology of habits and building sustainable and productive systems, and I’ve hear about the concept of Kaizen before, but this book doesn’t elaborate too much beyond the surface.
