About this deal

They have a multitude of uses: providing shade over picnic tables, sun loungers or even paddling pools for the little ones. The polyester fabric is relatively water resistant, so during light showers it should offer adequate protection – this is particularly useful if the garden parasol is being used to cover outdoor dining tables, bearing in mind the UK’s changeable summer climate. Although there’s no ‘tilt’ feature on this Greenbay Cantilever Parasol, it can rotate through 360° and adequately intercepts the sun from most positions – when the sun is low in the sky it may not be quite as effective. At 15 kg (without weights added, which will be necessary for stability), it’s not too heavy to move around if needed, either. Plus, this parasol can be rotated through 360°, so you can count all-round protection against sun or rain out-there. On the other hand, the parasol is very stable whilst protection because of its full-length cross base. The parasol is also made with wind flap to enhance optimum stability during extreme windy condition. People searching for a large, but reasonably priced, cantilever parasol that comes with a couple of nice little extras, should take a closer look at this Libra model from Jader. It’s hexagonal 3 metres diameter canopy will give you all the coverage you need this upcoming summer.

Best heavy duty cantilever parasol: Purple Leaf 2.7m x 3.3m parasol– with quality that just can’t be beat easily the best of the best cantilever parasols The biggest danger to the metal frames /poles of cantilever parasols is rust and corrosion. Often, aluminium is used for a lot of outdoor furniture, such as zero-gravity chairs and sun loungers, due to its ability to fight off rust, but the quality of the aluminium used can vary a lot and some of it is very lightweight, weak, and may not be the best material for a parasol if it doesn’t have a solid base to support it. Stainless steel can help to slow down the effects of rust too, as can a good quality powder coat like the one found on the GardenCo parasol frame, or galvanised metals. Both aluminium and steel are usually powder coated to make them rust- and weather-resistant and to give them some colour. You will need to keep an eye on this and apply another layer of protection to the bare metal if the powder coating is scratched or peeled off. The frame and canopy are about what you’d expect for the price, but the powder coating on the 48mm steel frame has been done to a better standard than what I saw on the Vounot model parasol, but that could have just been the particular items that we got our hands on, rather than one brand being better than the other, so take that as you will. Pretty easy to use, you don't have to use a lot of force, that's the thing that I like about this umbrella. This is gonna cover my area where we sit, with our furniture. I like it so much. Awesome, good quality."

Choosing our best heavy duty cantilever parasol wasn’t as difficult as we’d thought, with this product from Purple Leaf being a clear winner in this category. Well, if I’m being honest, there was one other product in this list that was a close challenge, but that was from the same company and took top spot for best solar parasol. In terms of the parasol itself, offering 360 ° rotation and various ‘tilt’ angles, it can be positioned as required – this offers you the flexibility to sit where you want, without the necessity of constantly moving to stay in the shade.

At 270c, x 330cm, you get a lot of coverage with this offering from Purple Leaf, and the fact that the fabric has been tested to UV50 level of protection means that you don’t have to worry about getting sunburnt under there. You won’t feel as hot as you might under most other parasols featured here either, due to the double canopy design that not only looks fantastic, but allows for better air circulation. Although it has it’s share of flaws, when you consider that it is less than half the price of the Jarder canopy we also featured, yet is very similar, it actually makes it a very good deal indeed. Will it last forever? I doubt it. But that’s to be expected of any cantilever parasol in this price range – it’s big and does the job: Adjustment options make a parasol so much more versatile, so it’s great to see that this one offers a few different variations. You can swivel the pole around to adjust the direction that the canopy points in, change the height of the umbrella, and alter the angle – there are levers in place that enable you to easily do all of this with one hand, and each adjustment takes just a second or two.Made from powder-coated aluminium, the frame is lightweight, rust-resistant and robust. Plus, with eight ribs to support the canopy itself, it’s strong too. Cantilever mechanism. The defining feature of a cantilever umbrella is the ability to adjust the angle to provide better shade. Thus, one of the most important quality control issues is how well the adjustment feature works.

The umbrella's diameter is wide enough to shade dining table. A rust-free aluminum pole and eight sturdy ribs provide extra support and durability. Plus, it can sometimes be difficult to find complimentary items of the right size when sold separately, so it’s reassuring to know that the weights and cover will fit together from the get go, without wasting time shopping around. Both of these things happen because the supporting pole of a standard parasol is located in the middle of it, and as most of these products are meant to be popped through the middle of your table, it’s the table itself that gets most of the protection from the sun. This often leaves the people sitting around said table half shaded and half exposed, often leading to some very funny looking tan lines! Well, funny for other people, anyway. Not so much the victim. The Sunnyglade Patio umbrella has a wind vent at the top of the canopy to provide ventilation. It prevents the area from getting too hot and also reduces the wind pressure, adding to the stability of the umbrella. Pros Sometimes when a parasol is new or has been in storage for a while, the joints and ribs are a bit stiff. This, in turn, makes you have to force the parasol open. For parasols that are made from materials that are prone to rust, regular lubrication may be needed.

Best-Selling Cantilever Parasols in the UK | Comparison Table

This parasol is best suited for those looking for flexibility and the ability to move it 360° to cover different areas. The UV-resistant canopy, along with the powder-coated aluminium structure, adds elegance and durability to the parasol. Very reasonably priced compared to some other cantilever parasols, this Outsunny model offers good value for money considering how many ways it can be adjusted.
