Bardolino takes its name from the town Bardolino on the shores of Lake Garda and was awarded Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC) status in 1968. On the lake side, the Bardolino accompanies local dishes made with lake fish: it is divine with risotto with tench, sardines, grilled lavaret and even with fried fish! The brand wanted to attract young wine lovers, as their wines were designed with a class and crispiness too woo them.

The Bardolino DOC wine – grown, vinified and bottled in the central region between Bardolino, Lazise, Affi, Garda, Costermano and Cavaion – may also bear the designation Bardolino classic.
