About this deal

I like them both, and in some respects I like the new formulation better, except in the poor longevity department.

I have noticed that I do not care for 90’s fragrances, though I’ve yet to pinpoint what notes are so repulsive to me. This is a definite vintage, but without any of the usual notes that give away a perfume as being dated. To sum up: Casmir is a 'simple' apricot-vanilla with a sophisticated base that is quite warm and womanly. Chopard Casmir is a luxe vanilla bomb laced with just enough boozy, fuzzy peach skin to smell somewhat fruity.Note about the packaging: Casmir’s packaging has stayed the same—the open lotus leaves etched into the round glass bottle with gold lotus bud cap housed in a red paper box. Development: (Linear / Average / Complex) While all the key players are present from the start, there is still an interesting progression of notes from tangy tropical fruit and coconut, to doughy vanilla, to incense-like spices.

The sumptuous items they produce are made from timeless, modern materials that transcend the brand’s codes and reveal outstanding quality. Updated thoughts 5months on - my journey into trialling scents has developed a bit more since I wrote this. Our artisans—masters at their craft—devote their meticulous attention to creating the accessories of La Maison Chopard. Chopard Cašmir Eau de Parfum - Chopard Casmir is a precious oriental-style perfume, created and distributed by one of the most famous and renowned jewelery houses in the world. It's a little gem and although targeted towards females, I think men could easily get away with this beauty. But with all that said, I would be hard pressed to name many other perfumes that offer such bang for the buck, with a handful of exceptions - looking at you, Blue Silk by AP! Most of the long reviews/descriptions described it as overpowering and a love it or hate it type of scent, warning of applying 15 mins before leaving the house.

I'll be interested in trying the more modern version when I've eventually run out of the two I have. I can usually pick out the many notes from complex perfumes as they evolve but from this I only receive peach and vanilla and find it very flat and sickly. Mine is the Coty version without the red lotus on the bottom and this version, while pretty good, doesn’t have the it-factor Almairac’s masterpieces like Fahrenheit and Rush do.I'd love to add something dry or sharp to it to lift it a little, maybe bergamot or a green herb, to make it smell less like a soporific dose of fume valium. There is a musty, smoky smell in this that when added to the old fashioned patchouli and powderyness, smells like old plastic dolls. Totally up my alley: strong oriental balsamic amber bomb with loads of warm spices, juicy fruits and vanilla. She’s effortlessly dramatic, realising that standing out too much when you’re this sumptuous can become a security hazard… so she learns how to pretend that she’s small.

When I ran out, I had extra samples sent to relatives and friends’ houses just so I could score a few more vials of the magic elixir. In about 15 minutes, the fruity notes disappear completely, the sweet vanilla tones down somewhat, and a coy, almost aquatic floral accord is revealed. A very rich and warm vanilla is what stays on my skin, it's definitely on the heavy side of the spectrum but so rich! I will definitely purchase one for my mom and at least another backup for me because I really want to wear Casmir this autumn and winter.Heightened by fruity hints of tropical mango and coconut, the citrus of bergamot and the delicious sweetness of peach, this fragrance is at once strong and resolutely feminine. But it certainly lasts and lingers and isn’t a ‘bad’ scent, I was looking to hard for something I wasn’t going to find initially, and trying to pick out notes, this has so many and is blended well, the ones I was looking for were not what I found, I am starting to enjoy scents in a different way now I’m learning more about them 🙂. UPDATE: I'm wearing the pure parfum version from Lancaster group, and it has a dusty sweetness that feels like the vanilla that Guerlain uses! At first I was suspicious, especially because I couldn't find the batch code on checkfresh (I wanted to find out when exactly it was produced, but I'm sure it's this year).
