About this deal

Jack brings an abundance of smarts to the dynamic, helping Itch see through his more risky moments with a tomboyish expertise. At its core, Itch revolves around the relationship of Itch, his younger sister Chloe and his cousin Jacqueline (Jack) as they cope with the problems associated with possessing a radioactive substance the world and his dog would do anything to obtain. Meanwhile Jack and Darcy retrieve Darcy's diving gear, and Darcy dives to retrieve the loftium, but his air canister only has 35 minutes of air. The story is enlivened by another of Itch's purchases, antique wallpaper containing arsenic, which provokes a delightfully disgusting scene involving lots of vomiting when his class visits the school greenhouse. The 126th element Itch possesses in the form of 7 rocks could fuel up to 100 nuclear reactors, resulting in numerous people and companies trying to forcefully acquire them.

Itch and Tim use a postcard and a secret cellphone message to try and find a person who has information on Greencorp and might be willing to help them, but it may require them to break the law and find a safe hiding place. He may have to rely on Tim's help though when Doctor Flowerdew decides to keep the rock and send it off for testing at a professional lab. Several things about this book puzzled or surprised me: first, even though he was an element collector, Itch didn't realise that a warm rock is radioactive. When he comes to Australian Intelligence awards him for his diligent service, members of Greencorp are arrested for trying to weaponize the rock, and the rock is made an element named Loftium.Itchingham Lofte, teenage element hunter and unlikely hero, has had anough excitement to last him a lifetime. I liked the character of Itch, as he was strange and invited the reader to wonder what on earth he would try to collect next. Solid science adds heft to Itch , a present-day sci-fi novel with elements of an international spy thriller. Perhaps they'll be explored further in another book about Itch, but I don't like it when my interest is piqued then spurned, so I was a little bit irritated.

The first series aired on TVNZ in New Zealand in February 2020, BYU TV in the United States in June 2020, CBBC Channel in the United Kingdom in November 2020, [2] in Finnish on Yle in Finland in September 2020 [9] and in Catalan in Super3 in Spain in February 2021. Two boys and a haggard mother (me) have read Itch hereabouts, and we all report hurrying to turn the page. It was the catalogue of everything that existed in the universe, stripped down to its 118 basic ingredients.Like many kids, he's a collector-magpie, but football stickers and manga-style cards aren't his thing.

Jack and Darcy arrive with the real loftium, and Itch reveals that the Real loftium can be input into the copycat loftium's chamber to destroy both of them, but because it must be input manually someone will get full radiation exposure and die.Ideal for Year 7 children who are visiting a chemistry lab with a poster of the periodic table on the wall, it will help them understand what the periodic table means and why the elements excite chemists. I found it intriguing how he was collecting all of the scientific elements yet his actual collection was so very strange. Based on the periodic table, Itch - Element Hunter is the first novel from renowned radio DJ Simon Mayo - an exciting and nail-biting thriller.

Jack comes up with a plan to test one of the dead fish, but an agent from the Department of Fish who works for Greencorp stops that plan.Invited to be a judge to help select the shortlist for the 2013 Royal Society's Young People's Science Book Award, she also has a deep passion for good books, especially good science books, which she reviews with some regularity. Loved both books and I highly recommend them but do be advised that both can be a little gory and violent, at times, so there are difficult moments if you have a weak stomach. I’m always recommending moms use RR to screen books as well as find new series to try with their kids. I recently wrote a piece arguing that the Pokémon games successfully communicate biological principles to their target audience, and I think it's fair to say that Itch does the same for Chemistry. His previous books include the Sunday Times bestseller Knife Edge, Mad Blood Stirring, Blame and the Itch trilogy, filmed for TV by the ABC.
