The story is enlivened by another of Itch's purchases, antique wallpaper containing arsenic, which provokes a delightfully disgusting scene involving lots of vomiting when his class visits the school greenhouse. The 126th element Itch possesses in the form of 7 rocks could fuel up to 100 nuclear reactors, resulting in numerous people and companies trying to forcefully acquire them.

Itch and Tim use a postcard and a secret cellphone message to try and find a person who has information on Greencorp and might be willing to help them, but it may require them to break the law and find a safe hiding place. He may have to rely on Tim's help though when Doctor Flowerdew decides to keep the rock and send it off for testing at a professional lab. Several things about this book puzzled or surprised me: first, even though he was an element collector, Itch didn't realise that a warm rock is radioactive. When he comes to Australian Intelligence awards him for his diligent service, members of Greencorp are arrested for trying to weaponize the rock, and the rock is made an element named Loftium.Itchingham Lofte, teenage element hunter and unlikely hero, has had anough excitement to last him a lifetime. I liked the character of Itch, as he was strange and invited the reader to wonder what on earth he would try to collect next. Solid science adds heft to Itch , a present-day sci-fi novel with elements of an international spy thriller. Perhaps they'll be explored further in another book about Itch, but I don't like it when my interest is piqued then spurned, so I was a little bit irritated.
