About this deal

If you love Anna Travis series, you will find “ Tom Thorne” Series by Mark Billingham and “Joe Plantagenet” by Kate Ellis a great match for you. Tom Thorne series features a main character named Tom Thorne, a detective inspector based in London, England while Joe Plantagenet features a London based Detective Inspector Joe Plantagenet. What Is The Next Book in The Anna Travis Series? The second series was equally as successful and was broadcast in two parts. The network was happy and a third series was filmed, again with Kelly Reilly as DC Anna Travis. Deadly Intent Lynda has received a huge amount of awards over her time in the field, including becoming an honorary-member of both the Liverpool John Moores University and British Film Institute. She was also awarded with the Dennis-Potter Writers-Award from the British-Academy of Film and Television Arts, and she received the Edgar-Allan Poe Writer’s Award (not to mention an Emmy) for her mini-series Prime Suspect. But, when he finally gets what he’s yearned for all these years, a political scandal erupts around him and he is shunned into the shadows once again with no shred of a positive reputation left. Sir William Benedict is left with no choice but to exact revenge on those who have sabotaged his dreams…and Justin Chalmers and his sister Laura are about to discover just how dark revenge can be when exacted by a man who has nothing left. What Kind of Awards has La Plante Earned?

I really enjoy the relationship of both characters and now, thanks to the TV dramas I can picture them too !! Anna Travis (a Detective Inspector) has to fight time to catch the copycat killer. She turns to James Langton (a brilliant Detective Chief Inspector and Anna’s mentor); the rough patch they are going through in their relationship complicates things. And then a second girl turns up dead. La Plante’s influence on the crime drama genre cannot be overstated. Her strong female characters and gritty, realistic depictions of police work have inspired countless writers and filmmakers. She has also been an advocate for women’s rights and has used her platform to raise awareness about issues like domestic violence and sexual assault. The mood is claustrophobic--the action takes place in the murder room (a specifically British, if not British crime fiction creation), in interrogation rooms with hostile witnesses, at crime scenes and, occasionally, at Anna's home or the home of a lover--all of whom are with the police and involved in one way or another with this increasingly complex case. Her first TV series as a scriptwriter was the six part robbery series Widows, in 1983, in which the widows of four armed robbers carry out a heist planned by their deceased husbands. One of the cases that she is working on, that involves the murder of a quiet woman (there seems to be no motive that they can find), turns out it is linked to James Langton’s. She is now the gang’s next target. When Does The Next Lynda La Plante book come out? These are two best books in Anna Travis series by Lynda La Plante, Above Suspicion and The Red Dahlia. Midgley, Neil (12 June 2008). "ITV to reinvent Prime Suspect". The Daily Telegraph. London . Retrieved 25 December 2008.

Reading, as I do, rather a lot of crime fiction in a year, it's normally possible to find something positive. In the earlier books, even in the last one I finished, Travis was a good character who could lift a book's ranking, even one that has a flawed plot, or a lot of filler, or some daft red herrings. In WRONGFUL DEATH, however, she's not strong enough for that much heavy lifting. She formed her own television production company, La Plante Productions, in 1994 and as La Plante Productions she wrote and produced the sequel to Widows, the equally gutsy She's Out (ITV, 1995). The name "La Plante" comes from her marriage to writer Richard La Plante, author of the book Mantis and Hog Fever. La Plante divorced Lynda in the early 1990s. With the murder squad’s newly renovated headquarters looking much better than had been expected, DCI Anna Travis gazed around on her return from a welcome break – a holiday which had left her tanned and relaxed. As each of her team members arrived, they were told to expect DCS James Langton for a meeting – he had a special case which required their attention. It turned out to be a case which had been closed six months previously, deemed suicide. A prisoner awaiting trial had told a guard that Josh Reynolds had been murdered – DCI Travis was put in charge of finding out the truth.

As a reader I feel confused and undervalued because my commitment into reading the previous books in the series is rated as less important than that of TV viewer who suddenly will start reading La Plante's books after watching Above Suspicions TV series. She dipped in and out of screenwriting and acting, best known for her magnificent work on the Prime Suspect televisions series. Lynda has a strong focus on crime and thriller, as she discovered when she wrote her first series for Thames Television, Widows, in 1983. After this turning point in her life, Lynda signed her first book-deal with Pan MacMillan, who helped her publish her very first novel, The Legacy, in 1987. When the book starts, body number seven is found, same method, but the killer has killed a sweet young student. Anna finds a piece of information that links the killings to a much loved (not to mention well known) actor. In Wrongful Death, Anna is now leading her own team. It has been so much fun seeing how she has grown and matured.

I liked the main character Anna Travis. I thought the supporting characters did their job, and I enjoyed the sexual tension between Travis and Langton, her boss--maybe a bit of a trope, but effective all the same. I also liked the serial killer, who reminded me of Dorian Gray (one of my all time favorite villains/books.) I started with the Anna Travis books from the very beginning. Anna was very young, new to the homicide department. She was also a little on the shy side, not very concerned about her looks, her dress. And she has a crush on her supervisor/mentor James Langton.Well, Deadly Intent is a little different to the rest. But you can bet that the author is already typing away at a new adventure.

After leaving school, Lynda La Plante briefly worked as a trainee at a fashion house before moving to London to pursue an acting career. She landed a role in a touring production of the musical Cabaret and later worked as a nightclub hostess to make ends meet. In the early 1970s, she turned to writing, penning episodes of popular British television shows like Z-Cars and The Sweeney. Lynda La Plante’s book list, including her numerous book series, has been translated into over 30 languages and has sold over 15 million copies worldwide. She has won numerous awards for her writing, including the Edgar Award for Best TV Feature/Mini-Series Teleplay for Prime Suspect 2 in 1993 and the Crime Writers’ Association Diamond Dagger in 2008 for lifetime achievement in crime writing. Lynda was so successful with her TV shows and her books that she decided to make her own television production company, called La Plante Productions. Through this company she has written many TV shows in the UK, all of which have been very successful. The one that is still on TV now is the famous Trial and Retribution. Like the other DI Travis novels I've read (you can read them as stand alone or together), there's a high body count, a lot of red herrings and a lot of police involved. Which adds up to a lot of names to remember in this novel- and very few are recurring characters. The author is fantastic at describing the action, but not that good at describing characters. For example, we know Pete likes a joint and drives a nice car, but very little about his looks and life beyond the lab. Langton also informed Anna that she would have a special FBI Agent who was a crime scene expert to help her out. Jessie Dewar was doing special research so the FBI had sent her to the MET in London to work with the murder investigation squad. But Jessie made no friends with her abrupt and know-it-all manner; Anna’s team, including Anna herself, immediately had their noses out of joint, being told by someone from the USA what to do in the UK – she didn’t even know the road rules!Anna Travis novels have been adapted into a British crime drama titled Above Suspicion. The series features Ciaran Hinds and Kelly Reilly as the main characters James Langton and Anna Travis. Four seasons were aired for over four years; the first episode premiered on January 2009 while the last episode aired in January 2012. The first three seasons all were aired on consecutive nights while the fourth season aired on a weekly format. BEST ANNA TRAVIS BOOKS Anna is assigned to her first homicide case, a string of grisly murders that have gone unsolved for the past eight years. The discovery of a new victim, who doesn't fit the usual profile of prostitute or drug user, causes concern that the killer may be indiscriminately targeting his victims. Eager to prove herself, Anna uncovers a vital piece of evidence linking one man to all the killings. But things get complicated when she finds herself attracted to the prime suspect. Dennis Potter Writers Award for television writing from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in 2001 Kitapta 24 yaşında oyuncu kızımız Amanda'nın evinde yatağında cıplak ve ölü bir şekilde bulunması ve bu cinayetin araştırılması etrafında dönüyor. Terrible for the too-vivid descriptions of the crimes and the corpses, and the casual way everyone agrees that sex workers are terrible people who deserve horrible deaths.
