About this deal

A brave hero, a band of gladiators, an imposter king, a vengeful knight, a world full of Werelords and Wereladies, Wereworld is a place like no other, a world more fantastical and magical than any I’ve read about for a long time… Enslaved by the Goatlord Kesslar, young werewolf Drew Ferran finds himself on the volcanic isle of Scoria, forced to fight in the arena for the Lizardlords. With the help of an unlikely ally, he must find a way to break free from an island no one has ever escaped.

Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Count Vega and Lady Opal can't stand each other after the former threatens the latter's children. the writing - i couldn't help but noticed that this book actually needed more dialogues than the description of the events that followed. The villains are evil. This is more of a PG-15 read for all its violence, and it's not too depressing, but can be. It's war, and people will die. Written in third person narrative but focalized from Drew's perspective. The use of the third person narrator allows plot hints to be placed surreptitiously into the narrative, different story threads to be created while not distracting from the main theme. The writing is wonderfully descriptive making it easy to imagine the world of Lyssia, for me Curtis Jobling has created an entire mythical world on a par to Middle Earth (well to be completely truthful I found Lyssia actually easier to picture than Middle Earth).

Neotext has announced a new novella from comics titans Benjamin Percy and Francesco Francavilla called Wereworld. Out digitally September 14, the new illustrated novella is about a year of increasing terror in a small Minnesota town. Stay tuned to the AIPT Comics podcast this Sunday as we chat with Percy about Wereworld. An Arm and a Leg: Drew loses his left hand in Book 2 after losing his left little finger in Book 1.

My favorite part of the book would probably be when Drew stands up to a tribe of werewolves, and they leave him alone. I was satisfied when Darnoc, ruler of the werewolves was slayed by Drew in a final showdown. I thought that the ending of the book really made you frustrated, but thankfully, its continued in a series of the books. I was suprised when Lance, a very important character was killed. Memetic Mutation: Occurs In Universe: Drew can cause nearly every broken peasant and reluctant werelord to Take a Level in Badass. Put on a Bus: As the books tell several different stories at a time, this is inevitable. Whitley and Gretchen are passed over in Book 3 and Manfred and Queen Amelie are passed over in Book 4.Snow Means Death/ Snow Means Love: Both Drew and Trent make their last stands against the Wyldermen during a snowfall. Both end their fights in the hands of a love interest. Possibly subverted as the snow turns to rain over the course of events. The series has such a simple concept that flourishes into something amazing, which is not so easily done except with a greatly skilled and imaginative Author. The books will lift you up and bring you down, they will make you laugh and they will make you cry, they will make you sit up fraught with tension and they will make you eager for more. These books will definitely not disappoint. My favorite character in Rise of the wolf was Gretchen; I experience every emotion possible towards her, from irritation and anger to downright hate then to sympathy and worship, Gretchen is officially an awesome character. Her witty jokes definitely lighten the mood of the novel.

My name is Drew, and I woke up to find myself sold into slavery. The Werelord here expects me to fight and kill in the ring, but I refuse to do his bidding. The other gladiators have given up hope, but I'm slowly convincing some to consider escape. The Werecats have returned to Lyssia, and their evilness is spreading to the other kingdoms. I hear they helped King Leopold escape his imprisonment, but he was killed shortly after. The prince has taken his place, and I don't think that's any better. I hope my friend Hector is well and that he's been able to rescue Lady Gretchen. I hope he's fully recovered from communing with his dead father; that's very dangerous dark magic. It's time for me to accept my destiny to unite the seven kingdoms, but I hope it's not too late. The story-telling is brilliant! It is a third-person point of view but following Drew. Not only will you be hooked from the beginning, but you will let yourself guide through the story by Drew's voice. I always have the nasty habit of guessing the end of a book before it happens and even though I knew where the story was going, I kept being surprised at all the characters coming up along the story and the different plot points. It has been one wonderful ride and I won't be forgetting this adventure anytime soon. To tell you the truth, I read this book three weeks ago and have read a dozen in-between and all I can think about are werecreatures. I have a love for shape-shifters in general, but I have really fallen for this story. Lucas is stabbed in the chest by Gretchen using Milo's antler. Considering what he did to both, it's a fitting end. News Travels Fast: When the Catlords break their alliance, a lot of people seem to have heard this news... aside from the ones by Omiri. Justified in that there are multiple time skips. The main difference from regular humans(other than the shape-shifting) is the capability of rapidly healing wounds that would be fatal for a normal person, although if enough injuries are sustained, they could die. Injuries from a fight among werecreatures can also be fatal, and the death is immediate if they're decapitated or stabbed in the heart.
