Greenwich is home to so many London landmarks – The Cutty Sark and The Observatory among them – that it can be easy to leave it at that.

Dating to the 1860s, it was designed for Angela Burden-Coutts, then the second richest woman in Britain (number one was Queen Victoria in case you wondered). That’s not where the story ends though. The name supposedly comes from a tree that Elizabeth I rested under as she took refuge here on a journey through the Great North Wood that used to cover most of South London. It might seem weird for us to say that the city’s oldest restaurant is one of the secret spots in London, but bear with me… because I’m not talking about the restaurant itself, we’re talking about its absolutely jaw-dropping upstairs bar.

It’s great if you’re looking to discover more of south London and want to find the best things to do in Dulwich as you go. Easy for us to say that you should expect the unexpected, so we can’t reveal too much otherwise we would spoil the secrets for you! But what we can reveal is that all our secret experiences will be accompanied by enchanting music and will give you access to hidden places that very few people know. I recently had the pleasure of going on London Walk’s walk titled “Hidden London with Adam”, and I had a wonderful time thanks to the tour leader, Adam. He knows the history of the area extremely well and was able to make it accessible, informative and entertaining for the group I was part of. You can’t go wring with London Walks in general, and Adam as a tour leader, to be specific. Absolutely something one should not miss!Many of those poor and all of the prostitutes were buried on a small plot of unconsecrated land near to The Shard – Cross Bones Burial Ground. This secret London walk is ideal if you want to get to know a part of London locals love. It’s one of the most beautiful places in the city, and it feels like a country village right in the UK capital.
