About this deal

You can differentiate these from others calling themselves ‘network radios’ (in various guises) by the blue icons with large numbers inside them for the different numbered channels ( Fig. 4). Therefore, it comes as no surprise to me that network radio has taken off in such a big way. Wherever I have been, I have heard people communicating, talking, chatting about every subject under the sun. Nice tidy thing well built easy transportable get on the air anywhere in the world with the GPS antenna so no need to worry about if you have a signal

I would argue, however, that network radios simply represent a 21st Century form of communicating and are not ‘in competition’ with more ‘traditional’ radio as we have known it to date. Network radios use internet propagation, rather than natural propagation. Consequently, they are just different, that’s all! The ‘original’ network radio channels are moderated. Depending on which channels you choose, you may even need to have a brief chat with a moderator first before full access privileges are given. It’s very simple! On the right of the front panel, there are four programmable buttons (P1 - P4), an orange SOS button and another button marked ‘MAP’. As on most unprogrammed devices, these do nothing, unless you have software to program them for you! More about this shortly. Not exactly ‘stealing’ anything, as far as could be told, but they looked like connections to servers of ‘Oriental’ origin, which did not need to be present at all. Lets also use some logic… If you are going to post a bit of misinformation in a public forum, have a read of the subject matter first… ;-) After adding channel 01, consider adding channels 02 & 03 too. As I said, 01 gets busy. Compare that to your local repeater. Unlike most smart devices, network radios have removable, replaceable, high-capacity batteries; sporting smaller screens also means battery life is much extended over a typical smartphone; network radio handheld transmitters can also stand up on a flat surface unaided ( Fig. 5).

However, the term radio does not only refer to the device itself but also to radio stations such as National Public Radio (NPR), News Radio 1000 AM and many others. You can receive radio through terrestrial broadcasting - this works through electromagnetic waves - or through broadband cable as high-frequency electrical signals. It is a similar principle to antenna and cable television. Both transmitted signals are converted into sound, which gives us our daily information. Why not enjoy the delights of internet propagation and its ‘crossing-over’ into natural propagation? Why not try some of the delights of being a 21st Century radio user? There are many similar apps; if there is an internet stream of something, you can probably listen to it on a network radio. The Telo arrived professionally boxed with all accessories present and correct. It is designed, as so many of these devices are, for the professional market, using bespoke PTT software for business use. G6 Global supply many radios with such software. You are about 90 seconds away from discovering a hidden gem in the hobby, we hope to have you along. There’s actually nothing to lose, apart from your inhibitions.
