About this deal

There is a wall attachment included, as well as screws and wall plugs, if you want to store it on the wall. This makes it easy to follow the suggestion of leaving it plugged in and charging between use (except for prolonged absences).

Just like the previous model, the HF500 PLUS can be used upright or as a handheld device which is perfect for families like ours who are constantly having to clean up all the crumbs the kids drop over the dining table, sofas, carpets and rugs! When fully charged, the HF500 offers up to 45 minutes of use in auto mode**, or 25 minutes in standard mode. When you want maximum suction, it offers 10 minutes of use in Turbo Mode. Furthermore, when it comes to storage, this Hoover is very compact. In storage mode, the device sits at only 69cm in height meaning it can be stored in a cupboard out of sight, instead of cluttering up your home. It can be used as a normal vacuum or as a handheld cleaner In addition to hair tangle prevention, the new floorhead also has a window to the roller which pops open for instant access and then the roller can be pulled out with ease making it easy to clean and maintain. Impressive run time At 0.7l the collection bin isn’t enormous but it’s a significantly more useful size than the 0.45l bin that comes with the Hoover HF500. This should be enough to clean a house without having to empty part way through, unless your house is particularly large or filthy. If there’s one thing that’s slightly disappointing, it’s the battery life. As you can see from the chart below, some vacuum cleaners at this kind of price come with enough power to clean for an hour on their lightest settings. With no Economy setting on this vacuum, there’s no option to reduce the suction down to eke out a few more minutes. As I previously mentioned, I particularly like using the dusting tool around the home and the crevice tool is perfect for those hard to reach spots where cobwebs and dust gather. It can be charged anywhere Once assembled, the product works immediately (no need to charge the battery!) and can be used in a number of places: Introducing the NEW HF500 Anti-Twist cordless vacuum cleaner - the new and improved cordless vacuum with anti-twist hair detangle floorhead, improved battery and fast charging. With a run time of up to 45 minutes and a superfast charging time of 2.5hours keeping your home clean is really convenient and thanks to the impressive brushless direct impulse motor dust and debris have nowhere to hide.

In use, the system is clear, informative and simple to use. It doesn’t detect carpet or switch power modes automatically but it’s easy enough to do this manually. READ NEXT: The best Dyson vacuum cleaners Hoover HF500 Anti-Twist Cordless Vacuum Cleaner review: What’s it like to use?

Anti-Twist floor head

The side-loading of the suction pipe has its pros and cons. Yes, you can empty it without removing attachments, but it means fluff and dirt needs to pass through a tight u-bend as it transitions from the upward pipe to the bottom of the collection bin.

You know that meme that says “you know you’re getting old when you’re excited about a new vacuum cleaner” well I guess that makes me old because I was so excited when it arrived! I was actually surprised by how compact the box was and the 45 minute run time on the front caught my eye straight away because there is nothing worse than being half way through the vacuuming and it’s battery going. Out of the box The HF500 Anti-Twist charges 58% faster than the standard H-FREE 500. This means less waiting around to be able to use it again. Lightweight and compact The lightweight design makes it easy to clean stairs, furniture and even cobwebs. The battery in my previous cordless made the vacuum much heavier so it hurt my wrists to support it, but it’s not an issue with this design which has a small battery and lightweight design at 2.2kg or 1.7kg in handheld mode. Accessory Bag With a fluffy white cat and two children that LOVE glitter, I appreciate that our home may be a challenge to vacuum cleaners, so I was very excited to see how the HF500 Plus rose to the challenge. I have to say so far, I am really impressed!AD I received the new Hoover Anti-Twist cordless cleaner to review. The first thing I noticed when it was delivered was how small and light the box was for a vacuum cleaner. This Hoover lives up to it's claim of being compact, but I found there is still enough space in the dust container for me to whizz round the house. I have been using this cleaner for my daily vacuuming of rugs, carpet, wood and tiled floors for the last couple of weeks so I have been able to test it out thoroughly. Look out for my 20% discount code at the end of this post. No matter what type of flooring you have throughout your house the HF22STH has it covered as you can adjust the brush bar to cope equally with hard floors and carpets. The first thing I noticed about the HF9 when putting it to the test is that it was noticeably lighter than the Shark Stratos (3.4kg compared to 4.07kg). If you struggle with mobility or carrying a heavy vacuum around for a long period of time, this might be a big help for you. In use, I found the battery needed recharging regularly, making the HF500 best suited to small spaces and lighter jobs. Hoover quotes the battery life at up to 45 minutes, but I assume that’s only possible with the motorised floor head switched off. With the floor head powered, I found the vacuum lasted 26 mins 10 secs – which, as you can see from the chart below, is one of the weakest battery performances you’ll find among similarly priced vacuums.

The “Direct Impulse Motor” spins at 100,000 rpm and delivers 75AW (whatever that means). In practise the Hoover HF500 Anti-Twist is easy to use and I have been happy using it as my only vacuum cleaner since receiving it. I get carpet lines which suggests it has a good suction and the carpet and floors look free of dust and debris after use. Of course, the proof of the pudding is in the cleaning, so to speak. We tested the HF500 with our usual suite of challenging tests, spilling both flour and Cheerios on both carpet and hard floor, then measuring how much the vacuum collects on a single pass. Emptying the collection bin is straightforward, too. It’s positioned to the side of the extension wand, so can be removed without having to take off any attachments. It unclips with a button at the top, while a second button at the bottom releases the door and lets the dust, dirt and debris fall out. The "anti-twist" floor head is all new and works really well at stopping hair wrapping around the brush. The battery charges 58% faster which is a huge improvement and means even if you forget to charge it your Hoover wont be out of action for long.

Take the Cheerios on hard floor test out of the equation, however, and the rest of the results are technically perfect. There were some elements left behind on a single pass, but not enough to register more than 1g of weight on my kitchen scales.
