About this deal

Standard spares in Velopac pouch (brake pads, gear cable, valve cores, mech hanger, multi tool, leatherman squirt, reusable cable ties, tubeless repair poker and worms)

Inflatable mats are camping mats that you fill up with air. There are two main types of inflatable mattresses, insulated and non-insulated. On the good side, it’s fairly easy to use the nozzle to let out a little air if you prefer a slightly softer mat. Although there’s very little air inside to play with! Custom build Niner TLR 9 Steel with Mavic Allroad SL wheelset, Hope R4+ brakes, Teravail Rutland tyres and a sprinkling of Wolf Tooth, GRX/Ultegra and Hope bits. I would, however, certainly recommend spending a little more to buy a better mat given that it will not just be lighter, it’ll also be comfier.Understanding the terrain you will be camping on can make a big difference as to the type of camping mat you choose. Map and compass – love being able to print on OS maps it matches perfectly with komoot to have a combo of new and old school So please forgive me but I’ll save myself from some poor night’s sleep and, without any signs of it being particularly durable or non-durable, I’ll just give it an average score. It won’t change my overall impression anyway! Value for money However, this is much heavier than quite a lot of other sleeping mats out there, some of which are almost half as heavy. That being said, the OEX Traverse 2.5 is much cheaper than most of these, so if you’re on a budget you might be okay with 1 kg.

That got us thinking though, that we’re looking at every possible item from OEX so it would be good to narrow our search down even further and only look at OEX branded products within the Sleeping Mats category. The cost of OEX Sleeping Mats Overall, the OEX Traverse 2.5 sleeping mat performed very poorly when I tested its setup. The Traverse comes with a standard air nozzle that you unscrew and, in theory, the sleeping mat should start filling up with air. [5/10] Portability We’re really pleased to have scored OEX Traverse IMX Sleeping Mat so highly, givimg it 9.6 out of 10, making it well above the average for all Sleeping Mats. The material the product is made from is often a sign of the quality for Sleeping Mats. Take a look at the product details over at Go Outdoors to get a feel for this. There are however some methods that you can use to determine a product’s quality without needing to physically have it.

Spare long sleeve merino base layer (I normally sleep in these two items, but also there in case I get sodden) The downsides to these mats are that they are not as comfy as other sleeping mats. They also don’t fold up as small as inflatable mats and don’t really provide much insulation. So when it came to trying the Traverse mat out, I pulled it out of its carry bag, took off the elastic bands, loosened the valve and threw it lengthwise onto the ground triumphantly. Aaand … nothing happened! To give that price some context we then looked at all of the products available from Go Outdoors in the Sleeping Mats category. We found 14 items in total. What’s the price of Sleeping Mats? You do tend to get what you pay for when it comes to sleeping mats. If you are just starting out, you might not want to invest heavily upfront and should probably opt for something a little cheaper. That said, it really depends on how much you value your comfort, as cheaper options won’t be quite as comfortable to sleep on. Weight

Another factor that can be a great indication of product quality is the brand. Brands like OEX are of course extremely well known, especially for Sleeping Mats. There’s so much information available online when we’re shopping now, that it’s easy to find lots of detail about products like OEX Traverse IMX Sleeping Mat. This is of course really helpful, but there’s almost too much information available, so it’s important to know exactly what you’re looking for.Basic foam mats tend to be the lightest of all, but are often thinner than other types of sleeping mat. Inflatable mats are more likely to weigh less than SIMs, however, this really depends on the quality of the materials used. The downside to buying online is that you can’t actually get hold of the product to try it out first. The OEX traverse 2.5 is fairly typically sized for a sleeping mat. That is to say, look elsewhere for a sleeping mat in large size if you’re approaching six feet.
