About this deal

Advierto de que hay escenas de sexo con palabrotas y demás, por si pensáis que es erótica más suave.

Jamie and Wes met at an ice hockey training camp when they were young teens, both boys lives revolved around hockey. I was smiling, laughing, and gasped quite a few times (rather loudly to the dismay of the people around me). When it comes down to West actually telling Jaime any of that, or making any kind of gesture to give Jaime the impression that he truly cares?I love that they are always honest with each other (even if sometimes it takes them awhile to tell the other how they are feeling) and that they aren't really caught up on others opinions except for the people who's opinions can change their lives. I still clap myself on the shoulder for the fact that I chose this book to be my first M/M two years ago. It doesn’t help that his new job isn’t going as smoothly as he’d hoped, but he knows he can power through it as long as he has Wes. By this point and after several of his dismissals of Jaime’s orientation, Wes had begun to get on my nerves. Básicamente es que no entiendo que de no hacer nada con un chico de la noche a la mañana te adaptes tan bien a ello, pero bueno.

In fact, said convo only took place about three chapters before the epilogue (and was initiated by Jaime pursuing West to a whole different country, mind you).

Considering the cold detachment of Wes's family, it was wonderful to have such a warm family dynamic on the other end. On the other hand, I HATED Wes’s family, they sucked as parents so I’m so glad he finally got the family he deserved.

It reminded me of Brokeback Mountain, "WE COULD HAVE HAD A REAL GOOD LIFE TOGETHER, BUT YOU DIDN'T WANT IT ENIS, SO WHAT WE GOT NOW IS BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN" except they have Lake Placid. Now I get the allure…there's something that's almost naughty or sinful about it in a delightfully delicious way! Well, the answer is yes, and it's not really a spoiler because the book picks up years later when the two meet yet again.

It comes to a satisfying ending if you choose to stop here but I am going right on to the next book, Us! I also loved all the scenes on them swimming in the lake, especially the one when they went skinny-dipping late at night with people less than 100 yards away. It’s been nearly four years since Jamie had spoken or seen Wes, but he still misses his friend and occasionally thinks about him. I loved the narration of both of these characters they were distinct enough that you know who was talking. So what if things got a little weird on the last night of hockey camp the summer they were eighteen?

I was prepared for a poorly-written tale with some hopefully hot sex scenes riddled with cringeworthy dialogue. Until a scout for another team swoops in to make one of them an offer that might complicate the life they’ve built together. Now for those of you who read the entire series- can I expect similar angst and tension that the first book had and is there any real conflict or it’s one of those books that’s perfect as a standalone and instead of a second book one great epilogue would do?

This his book has been one I have had on my mind to check out for a long time, so I took the plunge. Page 260, by which point Wes had ended things himself and decided to abandon Jaime without any parting words.
