I haven't had chance to view any of the planets yet, but I do understand from other reviews that the rings of Saturn and the moons of Jupiter should be visible. I can actually also focus back and forth (around 1-2 meters) with just my eyes, without touching the focus wheel, which is interesting. They still can be hand held but they provide enough light grasp and magnification to provide some good views of the night sky as well as birds and other things terrestrial. These 10×50 wide angle binoculars are not only stylish but extremely easy for a beginner to use while exploring. Since i am a newbie in binoculars, I will be very much pleased to hear your comments/suggestions on this review.I can see how much you have printed but how much experience do you have with matching what you see on the printed page with what is in the sky? Please note that the Nikon Action EX and the Nikon Action are different binos - I am only recommending the EX version. However, it turned out to be no risk at all - as the x10 magnification works brilliantly and the optics allow for exceptional clarity of viewing. Then, as already recommended, try to star-hop to nearby bright Messier objects - namely open and globular clusters around the Scorpius and Sagittarius region, for starters.
