My Experience: I started reading Local Girl Missing on 5/30/17 and finished it on 6/5/17. This book is the best mystery I have read so far! I love everything about it. This book is so good that often I could not tear my eyes away. The story is very fascinating and it captures my attention completely. I love the ending and I couldn’t guess the outcome. I love the organization of this novel and how the mystery unravels little by little. Because Kirsty knows that once you invite trouble into your home, getting rid of it can be murder. Then She Vanishes (2019) Sophie spent a lot of time at Frankie's parents pink hotel and came to be fond of Frankie's Dad. Fatherless, she craved a male role model in her life and Frankie's Dad was always kind to her, letting her borrow books from him etc. When they are sixteen, both girls develop a crush on the same handsome local boy, Jason. Hello,’ she smiles, and I realize I’m standing right next to her and that I’m staring. But she doesn’t look perturbed. She must be used to people gawping at her. If anything, she looks relieved that someone has bothered to stop.
The characters were amazing, especially those of Abi and Bea. You can’t help but feel for Abi at the start of the novel. I found myself worrying for her before I had even found out what happened between her and Lucy. She just seemed so vulnerable and lost. Then you have the enigmatic Bea. Vibrant and outgoing but she just seems too ready to accept Abi – who is to all extents and purposes a total stranger – into her life. The whole cast were well drawn and fascinating, each coming into their own just when the time was right and surprising me in ways that I never would have imagined. You’ve come to see our art?’ says Pam. ‘That’s splendid. It’s probably obvious we haven’t done this before?’ She laughs, it’s loud and booming and I warm to her straight away. At times it felt like there was no editing involved. There were errors and at time rambling descriptions. Does he really need my help to uncover the truth about your disappearance after all this time? Or does he want me here because I remind him of all that we had? I stay silent, knowing I’ll never be ready. Because to speak to him would mean revisiting the night I killed my sister. Chapter TwoI haven’t got a studio at the moment,’ says Beatrice as she ushers me into her bedroom, propping open the door with a floral cloth door-stop. Pam, Jodie and Cass have disappeared into their own rooms to begin setting up, although I can’t imagine that Jodie will be selling the three-headed sculpture that I saw downstairs any time soon. Beatrice’s house stands on the left-hand side of a tree-lined cul-de-sac. Huge Georgian terraces that reach up to the cloudless sky in all their Bath stone, five-storeyed glory stand proudly on both sides of the road, and where the street widens, there are gated tennis courts, presumably for the private use of the residents.
Claire Douglas has written an excellent psychological thriller, it only took me one day to finish it thanks to the interesting and addictive story and I look forward to reading her other books.

For much of the book you see events from Abi's point of view but some chapters are in Beatrice's voice. This moving between points of view plants a lot of doubts in your mind about who is telling the truth and who is manipulating whom. At various twists and turns in the plot I found myself distrusting all the characters.
Libby Hall needs to escape from everything for a while. which is why the house swap is a godsend. The chance for Libby and her husband Jamie to exchange their tiny Bath flat for a beautiful haven on the wild Cornish coast. The narrative style is perfect for this type of tale – creeping up on you, bright sunshine and seemingly happy people but underneath it all a distinctly menacing feel – Claire Douglas builds the tension absolutely superbly, changing the game with almost every other chapter and keeping you firmly off kilter. If there ever was one book that keeps you guessing till the end... This is it! I was immediately suspicious of one character, but then as the story progressed I realised that there were indeed MANY potential suspects. All characters seem shifty and to be hiding something. By the end I was totally and completely taken by surprise by the turn of events. I was NEVER expecting that finale...ever and I think it's very clever and original!

And each time I see her I begin to rush towards her, arm automatically rising to attract her attention. Because in that fraction of a second I forget everything. In that small sliver of time she’s still alive. And then the memory washes over me in a tsunami of emotion so I’m engulfed by it. The realization that it’s not her, that it can never be her. If I see one more book with the review/tagline of "for fans of Gone Girl or The Girl on the Train" I am purposely going to not read it. So there. I had high hopes for this book. The synopsis sounded great and it being a British psychological thriller I couldn't wait till this book came up on my list. Sadly, this book did not live up to the hype. (It was chosen as a winner for Marie Claire fiction contest and Good Housekeeping also recommended it). Thank you.” The Sisters is a tense and very gripping psychological thriller, totally twisted in the best way possible – in this case rather than one protagonist you just can’t work out and who will drive you mad, you have two. It's atmospheric, dark and at times spooky and perfect for a lazy Sunday read or a sunny afternoon in the garden. Apparently I am in the minority here in thinking this book is dreadful! The writing was clunky and ridden with clichés, the characters were unlikeable and the 'twist' at the end was so obvious I was surprised and disappointed that it wasn't a red herring. We pass two big reception rooms, one with a paint-splattered canvas propped on to a large easel and the other with a strange smooth white sculpture that resembles Cerberus, the Greek mythical three-headed dog. It gives me the creeps.lots of plot points didn't add up like why Frankie said she didn't knew who send the dog badges when only she was the one to send it? How mia know about failed pregnancies? Why police believed Daniel and his story instead of finding out the truth?
