Menk undertook his initial studies in Harare with his father, memorizing the Quran and learning Arabic, Urdu, and Hanafi fiqh. He went to St. John's College (Harare) for senior school. He later specialized in Hanbali fiqh at the Islamic University of Madinah. MOTIVATIONAL MOMENTS II Don’t keep asking why bad things happen to good people. The Almighty has promised us that we will all be tested. He puts us through tests because He knows when you’re at your lowest that you’re most likely to get closer to Him. Loss is never easy. Loss of a loved one, loss of wealth, loss of a job. All these can break your heart. But don’t let it make you lose hope in the Mercy of the Almighty. Your heart will heal; it will soften. You’ll draw closer to Him. You’ll feel whole again. Don’t live in regret. The past is over. Today is a new day; you are not the same person you were before. Believe that today will be better than yesterday. It’s about looking up with hope and looking forward. Look for new opportunities that the Almighty has planned for you. HOPE | 15 Ismail ibn Tata Menk, also known as Mufti Menk, is a Muslim cleric from Zimbabwe. Head of the country's fatwa department, Menk has been identified as a Salafi. This is a great way to get younger generations reading something as intricate as the seerah, in a simple, yet engaging manner. Most seerah books are written at a very academic level, so this is a refreshing change, and one that is needed to engage younger generations. The chapters are just the right length to keep the reader engaged. The writing could have possibly been a bit bigger, but this may just be me showing my age!MOTIVATIONAL MOMENTS II No matter what’s happening to you, there’s always hope. You’ve got to believe that. Choose hope over despair. Remember nothing lasts. So cling on to the hope that things will change for the better. And that change will come soon. The truth is no matter how lonely you are, you’re never alone. The Almighty is always near. Very near. He knows what you’re going through. He is aware of everything. So when everyone has abandoned you, seek comfort in Him, knowing that He is always there. Many of us are guilty of overthinking. Remember, the battle starts in your mind. Don’t defeat yourself in your own mind before you’ve even started. Focus your mind in the right direction. Be positive about things. You will see the difference. HOPE | 19

Mufti travels the world spreading a simple but profound message: “Do good, help others while preparing for the Hereafter”. A good read for anyone who wants to learn about the seerah in an accessible, engaging and easy to imagine in the mind's eye way. Move on. The Almighty has better things in store. Put your full trust in Him. Don’t be sad when people plot and plan against you. The Almighty is in full control. Remember, His Will is above everyone else’s. People will always talk, no matter what you do. Keep doing what’s right. Have faith; the Almighty knows what’s going on behind the scenes. Worry is the biggest thief. It steals your time, energy and inner peace. Turn your worry into worship. Seek Him. You’ll find your strength! MOTIVATIONAL MOMENTS II When you finally see your reward in Paradise for all the pain you endured in the temporary world, you’d wish you had more of the pain at that time! No one knows what awaits us for what we used to do but the Almighty. So keep going. Learn to view your hardships differently. See every adversity, every disappointment in a new light. They’re not meant to defeat you but to draw you closer to the Almighty. They’re there to make you a better person. We’ve all had problems that we believe will never be solved because it has been too long. We feel bogged down by our own shortcomings. We begin to accept that this is how it’s always going to be. But know that the Almighty doesn’t give up on you just because you’ve given up. HOPE | 43MOTIVATIONAL MOMENTS II Your journey is yours alone. Not everyone will understand it or like it. It’s ok. Use the pain of the past for the strength you need today. Almighty. I bring my burden to you because I can’t make it on my own. Give me strength, comfort me, heal my heart and help me carry on. When your heart’s heavy and your mind’s anxious, turn to the Almighty’s limitless Mercy. No matter what you’re facing, He’s there for you. Never lose hope. It’s what keeps us going. Start praying again. Start expecting again. The Almighty knows what’s going on in our lives. HOPE | 16 Mufti Ismail Menk". themuslim 500.com. Archived from the original on 5 October 2015 . He went on to study Shariah in Madinah, specialised in jurisprudence and later became the Grand Mufti of Zimbabwe. Today, Mufti Menk is one of the most prominent and prolific Islamic scholars. This message resonates with all, regardless of race or religion. He engages in humanitarian and educational work extensively, often traveling to rural Zimbabwe and other parts of Africa. BIOGRAPHY | 7 The first book in this series recounts the main events of the life of the Prophet ﷺ; beginning just before his blessed birth and ending with the migration to Medina (then Yathrib). Key events during this time include: marriage to Khadijah (ra), the first revelation from Allah (SWT), the encounter with Jibreel (as), early migration of the companions to Abyssinia, the Year of Sadness, trials at Ta’if, and al-Isra wal-Mi’raj. Menk opposes terrorism and has pledged his aid in curbing religious extremism in the Maldives. [21] On 31 March 2018, he urged Liberian Muslims to avoid Muslim—Christian violence, arguing that Muslims and Christians are brothers and sisters from one father, the prophet Adam. [22] He blames western media for misleading the world that Muslims are terrorists. [23] According to Gulf News, Menk said that everyone on this earth is a part of a family and has one maker, therefore, no one has the right to force any belief or faith on another. [24]

MOTIVATIONAL MOMENTS II Even in your lowest moments when you’re totally helpless, don’t despair. The Almighty will send something your way when you least expect it. No matter what you’re facing, when it’s time for you to shine, when it’s time for you to excel, you will. None can stop what He wills. Don’t stress too much over worldly matters. Worrying about the future or regretting the past is a waste of time. Leave it to the Almighty. Your hardship won’t last. Your sadness won’t last. Nothing lasts in this world. Every test you go through will empower you. You’ll be ok! HOPE | 20 MOTIVATIONAL MOMENTS II No matter how sad, depressed, confused or broken you are, always praise the Almighty. He will reward you in ways you could never imagine! Not everyone will value you. But there are a few who will stand by you no matter what. They’re the ones praying for you without you knowing. Your hardship won’t last. Your sadness won’t last. Nothing lasts in this world. Every test you go through will empower you. You’ll be ok! If your main concern is this life, you’ll often be worried and distracted. If Hereafter’s your priority, He’ll fill your heart with content. HOPE | 11 Menk opposes terrorism and has pledged his aid in curbing religious extremism in the Maldives. On 31 March 2018, he urged Liberian Muslims to avoid Muslim-Christian violence, arguing that Muslims and Christians are brothers and sisters from one father, the Prophet Adam. He blames Western media for misleading the world that Muslims are generally terrorists. According to Gulf News, Menk said that everyone on this earth is a part of a family and has one maker, therefore, no one has the right to force any belief or faith on another. MOTIVATIONAL MOMENTS II Whatever it is that you want, ask the Almighty. Your whole life can change with supplication. That’s the most powerful tool you have. Use it. Don’t waste it. It can change your fate. Only He can give you what you want. And you’ll be rewarded just for asking! As much as the Almighty opens doors for us, He also closes them. When that happens, it takes a mature mind to say, “I don’t understand it, but I’m not going to get upset because He knows what’s good for me. I shall accept it. I trust Him fully.” Never forget that the Almighty is on our side. If we take a single step towards Him, He takes many steps towards us! Yes, life is hard and unfortunate things happen to us. Often we don’t know why they happen. But trust Him and know that He wants good for us. HOPE | 35
