About this deal

Set between London and Italy across many years, this is the complex love story of Tess and Gus, who have to overcome so many differences and outside forces to be together, but who seem to somehow be fated. It was unpredictable what was going to happen with the relationship, knowing it may not be the happily ever after for the characters and that’s what had me racing through the pages and not wanting to put this down. Alternating between the perspectives of Tess and Gus, the novel explores the conflicts and challenges of new love and old loyalties, passion and duty, logic and belief, with readers racing to find out if the couple can or can't be together.

Despite all that goes wrong - illness and family issues, it is obvious there is a deep love between the two main characters - Tess and Gus and that fate brought them together. Tess and Gus are strangers when their lives collide one sun-drenched morning in Florence, but it feels as if fate has brought them together. In ‘Ever After’ by Kate Eberlen, readers are introduced to Gus and Tess, and a romance that intertwines throughout both of their lives, spanning years, toing and froing the both of them, almost as though the universe is undecided about where they will end up, and if they will end up together. But it's also a book that implores us to be in the present, to love wholeheartedly and also that while we may not have ever after, we can still have happily. Kate now lives on the south coast of England, but spends as much time as she can in Italy, a country she loves. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Infused with romance, warmth and depth, ‘Ever After’ is a sensitive and moving tale, of what it means to take a chance, to throw caution to the wind, and to make the most of the time we have here. The evocative entertaining prose carries the reader along and the book is such an easy absorbing read it is rather deceptive because it’s only on reaching the end, and reflecting, that one realises the enormity of the novel and the questions it raises. Alternating between the perspectives of Tess and Gus, the novel explores the conflicts and challenges of new love and old loyalties, passion and duty, logic and belief, with readers racing to find out if the couple can or can’t be together. I loved the idea of it, the way it was written and the descriptions of Italy really made me want to go back and visit. With each chapter allowing the reader an insight into Tess and Gus’ individual lives, Eberlen provided a satisfying observation of his and hers’ thoughts and feelings, which paved the way throughout the story. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. I am thrilled to announce that my new novel EVER AFTER will be published in the UK in July 2023 by Orion Books. Cleverly using the construct of the fairytale Eberlen has written a novel of epic proportions which asks whether even the purest love can survive real life challenges such as family obligations, social differences, financial pressures and mental and physical illness. Anna Karenina comes to mind - but this is an easier read and a warmer, more optimistic portrayal of life and humanity.

This summer, fall in love with EVER AFTER from the bestselling author of Miss You *** Your favourite authors are loving Ever After: 'Kate Eberlen has gone beyond the initial star crossed romance of Tess and Gus to explore the lasting nature of relationships with her characteristic sensitivity, perception and humour in this inspirational book' Martha Kearney 'A captivating story about love. Or would two people whose lives had failed to connect for many years, keep on just missing each other even when they were together? Kate Eberlen has gone beyond the initial star-crossed romance of Tess and Gus to explore the lasting nature of relationships with her characteristic sensitivity, perception and humour in this inspirational book. When I wrote The End, I found I couldn’t stop wondering whether it would really be possible for characters with such different back stories to live happily ever after.Dear readers, it has been such a long time since I last wrote a book review, so if this review at any time seems a bit wobbly or loose in its structure, I do apologise. Eberlen makes the move from Mantle, which published her most recent book Only You in 2020 and won a seven-way auction for Miss You in 2015.
