About this deal

In the UK, there are eight types of common feline intestinal worms. Most can be grouped as either tapeworm or roundworm. Advantage products available for cats include Advantage II and Advantage Multi and they have some differences from Frontline products. Advantage contains imidacloprid, which like fipronil also targets the nervous system of the flea. However, instead of causing excitatory neurologic behavior before death, imidacloprid causes more of a neurologic paralysis. Because of this difference, some pet parents may perceive Advantage II as being more effective, though in the end, both products are doing the same thing.

Liquid – Good if mixed into food, say for younger or older cats. Varieties available, including undetectable liquid suspensions and tasty kitten syrups The delicious meat flavour makes it highly palatable and easy to give to your cat with or without food.Kittens should be treated for roundworms every 2 weeks from 3 weeks of age until 8 weeks of age, then monthly to 6 months of age. The adult cats (greater than 6 months of age) should be treated every 1-3 months. However, if you want to prevent worms from occurring, ensure you buy a medication which can do this. The best frequency is around every three months, but this may need to be more regular for any cats who pretty much live outdoors. Heartworm is a tough subject in cats. Testing for heartworms is not as routine in cats as it is in dogs since testing in cats can only detect heartworm in about 50% of cases. However, more recent data has shown that more cats may be affected by heartworm disease than previously thought. Unfortunately, even indoor cats can become infected with worms. Fleas and their eggs carry tapeworm – so you also need a quality cat flea treatment to completely keep them away.

Roundworms (also called ascarids) are cylindrical – like spaghetti – and can be up to 15 cm long inside dogs. While Frontline products are considered to be waterproof, make sure not to bathe your kitty for 24-48 hours after an application. Bathing shortly before application may also reduce its effectiveness. In this article, you’ll learn about the different Frontline products available for cats, the ingredients they contain, what types of parasitic pests they target, possible side effects to consider, and some frequently asked questions. About Frontline for Cats Incorrect application. (i.e. applied to the fur not the skin, failing to apply the whole volume of product, failure to properly puncture or open a vial prior to application). To protect against worms, you need a quality worming treatment. You also need to clean bowls regularly using a pet-safe disinfectant, dispose of faeces correctly and keep sleeping areas clean too.Failure to apply to all pets in the household. If one pet brings fleas indoors, they can jump onto all pets in the home. If all pets are not treated at the same time, flea infestations can persist. The most common intestinal worms which will be a risk to cats in the UK are roundworms and tapeworms. Hookworms are another threat that they can develop from eating things such as eggs (not recommended). It is also always advisable if you have a pup and kitty who like to hang out together or groom each other, to separate them for 24 hours after applying a topical product to your dog, especially if the product contains permethrin. Suitable for all cats (including kittens and nursing cats) above 6 weeks of age and weighing more than 1kg.

FRONTLINE® WORMER Tablets for Cats is a broad-spectrum wormer that kills all types of intestinal worms commonly found in the UK: both roundworms and tapeworms. It’s meat-flavoured and can be given with or without food, making it easier to give to your pet. There are four common types of these worms in dogs. If you’ve seen white things in dog poop or vomit, around their bum or on their bedding, you’re unlikely to be able to tell which type of worm it is. However, the white things are likely to be one of these worms, or a segment that’s broken off from a bigger worm in your dog’s intestines. I would only consider reapplying if there’s a possibility the product may have been applied incorrectly or if your kitty had a bath shortly before or after application, etc. In the Frontline article, in the FAQ section, the first question “How Effective is Frontline for Cats” lists several reasons why folks may still see fleas after applying a topical product. Boehringer Ingelheim is a research-driven group of companies dedicated to the discovery, development, manufacture and marketing of innovative health care products. Section Overview Bathing. Baths are a common go-to, especially when live fleas are seen. However, while waterproof, Frontline products need 24 hours to spread throughout the oils on the skin. Bathing shortly before or after application removes oils from the skin as well as possibly the product itself. All three ingredients currently found in Frontline products (fipronil, (S)-methoprene, pyriproxyfen) generally appear to have a low potential for toxicity both topically and even if accidentally ingested. Fipronil collects in the oils of the skin and hair, allowing for continual release, lending to its 30 day period of efficacy. Per the product label, it takes about 24 hours to spread throughout surface oils on skin and hair to provide complete protection. Failing to Treat the Environment. Because one flea can lay up to 50 eggs in just one day, the amount of eggs in a home environment with fleas can be staggering. If the environment is not treated effectively, continually hatching fleas may continue to be found on a treated pet. Hookworms have hook-like mouthpieces with which they attach to the dog’s intestinal wall. Hookworms are around 3 mm long.
