About this deal

Set in glorious Wales, with a huge and well drawn cast, this beautifully written crime novel is as entertaining as it is twisty. The three Dahlias realise that the murderer has to be one of the cast, and are determined to solve the case. However, I think that the author provides enough explanation that this one can be read as a stand alone.

The Three Dahlias are back in this winning and absolute gift of a mystery that evokes perfectly the classic stories of Agatha Christie with the wit and imagination of Anthony Horowitz and the clever and sinister. As in the previous book, there are plenty of red herrings and our trip get upto plenty of mischief, but there is no doubt that only the 'Three Dahlias' can solve the mystery as the body count rises and their own lives are all put in peril!

It wasn't a "page turner" for me; I could read a little bit, put in down, then go pick it back up later. An absolute treat of a read with all the ingredients of a vintage murder mystery: a country house, mysterious dead bodies and three actresses all keen to catch the killer. Book two of the Three Dahlias crime fiction series, sees our three heroes, Rosalind, Caro and Posy on a film set in North Wales. Katy Watson grew up in North Wales, as part of a family of folk singers, storytellers and murder mystery addicts. The plot is well concieved, and has several layers - and there is a good cast of characters (literally, as the action is centred around the filming of a movie).Posy had also registered the presence of Dominic Laugharne, another well-known actor of the old school. In between filming scenes, signing autographs for locals, photoshoots in London, talk show appearances and jetting off to France for an impromptu party, the three Dahlias do what they do best - surrupticiously sleuth. Each of the three leads is given narrative focus at different points in the novel and Watson moves between these with ease, really building a remarkable amount of intrigue and tension. I read the first book and so understood the references to it but if you haven’t and just want to dive right in here then no problem either. With the film in danger of being shut down the three Dahlia’s are forced to take charge to find the murderer and save the film.
