About this deal

An engrossing read by someone who clearly knows their subject matter well. I didn't see the ending coming!' Faith Martin While practising as a barrister, Rinder wrote television scripts in his spare time. Upon attempting to sell one, he met producer Tom McLennan. [15] He approached ITV with a proposal for a remake of the 1970s programme Crown Court, but this was rejected in favour of a British version of Judge Judy, and McLennan offered Rinder the opportunity to front it. [16] [15] Between 2014 and 2020, he has been the eponymous judge in the reality courtroom series Judge Rinder, where he has been referred to as a British Judge Judy. [16] Borgo Egnazia in Puglia is a hotel like no other. Newly constructed to look like a 200 year old village, it strives to capture the heart of the area through its local food, Puglian staff and immersive design. But how genuine is it really? Rob and Monica work alongside the locals to find out.

Rinder review My Family, the Holocaust and Me with Robert Rinder review

I’d love to read about Adam again, his character is excellent and I’d also enjoy seeing if his lovely mum gets any closer in her quest to get him wed! Obviously Rinder knows the judicial system well and this shone through in the writing. The nature of justice and whether our legal system is always successful in attaining it, is a major part of the plot and this certainly made me think. The ending was great, very clever and certainly worthy of such a cleverly plotted book. BBC Strictly fans think major 'secret' has just been confirmed as stars reveal what they got up to with no Saturday night live show I’m not really one for nightclubs, and if I do go to one I prefer the sort of place that closes at midnight, but I did have a ball in Ibiza when I got married in 2013, although I’ve actually been divorced longer than I was married now. My friend Benedict Cumberbatch took the service, and we stayed in this incredible hotel called Hacienda Na Xamena. The whole experience was incredibly joyful but there were certainly no foam parties at the end of the night.

The only thing that's certain is that this is a trial which will push Adam - and the justice system itself - to the limit. John, Judge (25 June 2014). Meet ITV's reality TV judge and Britain's answer to Judge Judy". Radio Times . Retrieved 7 September 2016. Rinder still brings joy to TV – his facial expressions when he competed on Strictly Come Dancing are seared into my brain – but in recent times he has made serious and moving documentaries, including an exploration of Israel and Palestine and My Family, the Holocaust and Me, both for the BBC. His maternal grandfather, known as Morris, was born in Poland; his family were sent to the Treblinka camp, where they were murdered, but Morris, a fit young man, was sent to work in a factory, then to other forced-labour camps. Being the grandchild of a Holocaust survivor, says Rinder, has “informed my politics, my view of the world, my instinctive reaction to people, this idea of who in the community is a bystander, a rescuer, a perpetrator”. In 1945, his grandfather was one of several hundred Jewish orphans who were flown to the Lake District to begin new lives; Morris lied, saying he was younger than he was to get here. There are parallels with today’s migrant crisis, with young people, particularly men, accused of “faking” their age to come to the UK. I didn't know what to expect when I requested this book. I knew the courtroom drama would give the exact detail as Rob (Robert) Rinder used to be a barrister and judge. I was not disappointed. I loved this murder mystery. I was completely invested from the beginning. There was plenty of twists to keep you guessing. I really liked Rob's writing style and he brings with it his personal experiences as a criminal barrister. It's not often you hear of a murder at the Old Bailey, especially a policeman. This book gives a good insight into the justice system. The characters are well portrayed. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
