About this deal

Osprey have now constructed the Fairview from recycled materials 450D Recycled Twist Dobby Polyester to be specific. This is a lightweight yet durable fabric that keeps the bag under 2kg in weight. A PFC/PFA free water repellent coating adds additional travel protection from dirt and incidental showers but I would always recommend getting a rain cover if you are planning on trekking in bad weather. Price Although the Farpoint/Fairview series isn’t necessarily designed for hiking, they are comfortable enough to take on hikes during your travels. Where to buy Osprey Farpoint 55 The latest edition has an adjustable harness. This means you can move the harness up or down by up to about 3 inches or 8cm. Load-lifting 4 mm LightWire peripheral frame effectively transfers the load from harness to hipbelt There are also 70-liter versions, though I personally consider these too large for general travel purposes. Moovit is also an excellent and very underrated travel and journey-planning app. It works great in many countries and will show you all possible routes by public transport, including the timetables.

About GO Outdoors

Distributes weight nicely, highly organized structure, comfortable & removable straps, sturdy handles No, there is just one size. It used to have a S/M and a M/L version but no longer. There is now only one size: O/S.

It also opens suitcase-style from the side and not from the top, so you can always access everything very easily. This is perfect for when you mostly stay in hotels or in hostels. I can get a cover for a month or three months and I know I can travel with peace of mind and get the best product for my money. And it also covers COVID-19. For this reason, if you like the look of this bag I think getting a Fairview/Farpoint 40 would make more sense. So the idea of this bag is kind of floating in the air without being specifically defined. That’s also why I’m thinking about getting another bag while I’m debating whether or not I want to travel carry-on only.

I travelled with this bag for a year in Madeira, mainland Portugal, Colombia, Guatemala, and Mexico, while carrying with me everything I owned at the time. I am a woman of average age and average fitness level. I walk a lot, take public transportation, stay in hostels, hike, and I often carried this bag for more than half an hour. I have carried all sorts of things in this bag and I loved and hated it at various stages of my travels. I will give you my honest opinion and you will make a decision. The Farpoint 55 and Fairview 55 are essentially the same product; the only difference is that the Fairview is a women’s specific version. The other common question I get is if the 40L carry-on size is big enough for certain trips. I think traveling minimally is great, but there are some trips where you might need a bit of extra space. If you are on the fence about how much space you need, then the Farpoint Trek 55 is a really nice step up from carry-on. When product pictures of the new Farpoint got released, I saw many comments on forums comparing it to the Osprey Porter. They do look a bit similar in pictures, but the Farpoint is absolutely NOT as structured or as stiff as the Porter. But if you are going on a longer and more adventurous trip, I think the Farpoint Trek 55 will work really well.If I were going on a big round-the-world trip or gap year today — one that would take me through multiple climates — I would likely go for this set-up instead of just a single carry-on. Conclusion Comfort is always a top priority for any traveler, and I understand where you’re coming from. While the Farpoint has worked well for me, I agree that better organization and a more comfortable harness system can make a difference during those long walks and rough travels. The Osprey Fairview 55 is perfectly fine and comfortable when walking from the train station to the hostel, waiting for a cab, or performing any regular travel commuting that does not require you to walk with this bag for extended periods of time. I’m currently using the Osprey Farpoint, the male version of the Fairview 55, and I share your sentiments about its durability. My Farpoint has been my trusty companion for years, and it’s held up incredibly well, even with daily use for my work commute.
