About this deal

I would choose the Cumulus over the Nimbus for long runs and for faster runs but I prefer the Nimbus for easy and recovery runs. In addition to the cushioning properties of the insoles and outsoles that contribute to the comfort of the shoe, there is also good ventilation thanks to the mesh upper. The polyester upper allows perspiration and heat to escape for comfortable exercise and foot hygiene. In addition, the textile lining and seamless upper eliminate the risk of unpleasant rubbing that can lead to chafing. The midsole lining also provides a pleasantly soft feel. Another major advantage of the Gel-Cumulus 23 is its low weight, which makes running more comfortable and smooth. Fashion Meets Function Overall: B- (Great shoe for midfoot/forefoot strikers. Heel strikers should look elsewhere. Very nice fit but clunky heel)

These hexagonal shapes in the midsole act like pillars to allow the midsole to compress more in those zones which increases softness. The problem with exciting shoes is that they’re still new so you never know what you are going to get and if it’s going to work for you. It’s a neutral daily trainer with enough form in the heel to add stability for runners that care more about just getting out for a jog than those focused on their stride and speed. The small updates that ASICS has made to the Cumulus 23 have improved it but have made it heavier too, although on foot, it doesn’t feel like a heavy shoe. Ferrari, J., Hopkinson, D. A., & Linney, A. D. (2004). Size and shape differences between male and female foot bones: is the female foot predisposed to hallux abducto valgus deformity?. Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, 94(5), 434-452.Walking around in the Cumulus 23, I could feel that the layer directly underfoot was less spongy than the Nimbus 23 with less of a sink-in sensation. ROBBE: There was something going on with the tongue that I didn’t really like. I think there was some extra material that was folding under, which was a bit annoying but not a deal-breaker. You don’t have to worry about durability or fit issues with the Cumulus 23, or about getting injured from too much softness or not enough. The Cumulus 23 has the right amount of everything. Well, firstly, they felt like an excellent fit straight out of the box. I took them out on a brisk 5km and as expected they were a delight to run in.....I was probably smiling whilst I was running! They felt incredibly soft, light and bouncy whilst still feeling really supportive and well cushioned under foot. Being completely honest, I thought that the Gel-Cumulus™ 22 was a pretty great all-round shoe but ASICS have improved them, yet again! They actually stayed on my feet all day they were that comfortable.

It now has a softer upper, 3D Space Construction zones in the midsole and a full-length, bottom layer of Flytefoam. The high versatility of the Cumulus 23 means that it can handle easy runs, recovery runs, steady runs and it even has enough cushioning for long distances of 40+ kilometres. In a world where daily trainers have carbon plates and super foam midsoles, the dependable ASICS Cumulus 23 still doesn’t feel like a boring shoe. Part of the reason this shoe is so comfortable is because of the new gender-specific features. The Cumulus 23 features Trusstic™ technology that provides gender-specific support. This system helps creature smoother transitions and keeps you stable on the run. But now that I’m all on the stage by myself, let me try to not piss my pants and give this a well-rounded review.

ASICS GEL-Cumulus 23 Shoe Review: Run Test Review

The nice thing about this shoe is that it doesn’t have a lot of bullshit. You don’t have to worry about a “too soft” midsole, not enough bounce, too much bounce, not enough support, etc. And among the most significant changes are the gender-specific features on the Cumulus 23. As mentioned above, the midsole’s cushion is different in both men’s and women’s shoes, and the Trusstic System™ provides support. I think this helped make a huge difference because this shoe felt great on my feet. Engineered mesh upper adds strategic support in targeted areas while leaving some of the fibres open to improve breathability. Krauss, I., Grau, S., Mauch, M., Maiwald, C., & Horstmann, T. (2008). Sex-related differences in foot shape. Ergonomics, 51(11), 1693-1709.

If you were to Google image search “daily training running shoe”, the odds are high that the Asics Cumulus would be one of the first images that pop up. One of my favorite things about ASICS shoes is their outsoles, and this shoe is no different. The Cumulus 23 features a new AHAR LITE rubber. This is a great rubber that’s lighter than before but doesn’t sacrifice durability. I can see this shoe lasting a long time because of the outsole. This outsole is also grippy and provides a lot of ground feel. If you’re someone who likes to feel connected with the surface you’re running on, then you’ll appreciate this outsole as much as I do. ASICS GEL-Cumulus 22 Versus ASICS GEL-Cumulus 23My first run was a 10km steady-paced run and I was surprised how well it performed when I increased the pace. The midsole has ASICS’ FLYTEFOAM™ Propel cushion. While this isn’t the most cushioned ride, it still provides a ton of support, responsiveness, and ground feel. I think this cushion will last a long time and remain responsive, even after a few hundred miles on them. The Gel Cumulus 23 is a shoe that doesn’t make you think about which shoe to wear for what run. This shoe is designed on a budget for the runner that just wants something they can comfortably jog in day-in and day-out no matter what type of workout they are aiming for. However, this shoe isn’t exclusively for beginners. If you’re a seasoned marathoner and need to log a lot of miles, you’ll want this shoe in your rotation. It’s a great classic—you can’t go wrong.
