About this deal

There’s 2 major reasons people generally like the gitz: They like the underdogs, or they like the silliness (or both!). Gitz have been seen as the underdog army basically from Age of Sigmar’s inception. Their rules have always been a bit haphazard, weaker than equivalent units and subject to a lot of randomness. This does have a certain appeal to a kind of person who didn’t really care about winning and just wanted to cause some chaos on the table. The icon of the Bad Moon can return destroyed units of Stabbas and Shootas to the battlefield – imagine new units of reinforcements pouring out of the grotto to overwhelm the enemy. The Troggboss is a great model, but at 300 points is probably only going to be taken by people wanting to field a full or heavy Troggoth list.

The Beasts of Chaos are the purest embodiment of primeval violence. These braying killers surge out from their wilderness lairs in vast herds, intent on carnage and desecration. Ever since the dawn of the Mortal Realms, they have stalked their most remote regions, butchering anyone foolish enough to trespass on their territory. Monstrous hybrids of man and animal, they consider themselves the true children of Chaos, fuelled by ferocious instincts and a deep-seated hatred of civilisation. When roused to war, they stampede across the lands, grinding cities and fortresses alike to rubble beneath their hooves. For those of you with a spiderfang general, Spider Riders can be battleline and certainly exist. A bit more exciting is the Arachnarok Spider with Spiderfang Warparty , giving the faction its sole ability to monster mash if you’re that way inclined. No longer relegated to being the worst big spider but it’s battleline I guess, the warparty now counts as 10 models for contesting objectives which is really good! BehemothGloomspite have been historically a fun army to play, with many crazy and random abilities that make an extremely amusing night but are not reliable enough for competitive play. The third edition tome resolves this problem by giving more predictability while keeping the fun the previous iteration had. As a result, Gloomspite Gitz fortunes in the third edition changed drastically and they are now in a much better spot in the meta ranking. We’re glad you asked! Gloomspite Gitz are a new faction combining Moonclan Grots, Spiderfang Grots, troggoths and the occasional gargant under one umbrella.* These previously disparate factions have been forged into a single, coherent army list, complete with a new battletome, new allegiance abilities and a pile of new kits to tie it all together.

The list of artefacts of power contains some really good choices as well, like the Staff of Sneaky Stealin’ that gives a bonus of +1 to casting that increases every time the wizard successfully unbinds a spell or Loonstone Teefcaps that increases the rend of that hero’s squig mount or companion. The Loonboss is the moon-headed hero to lead (and presumbaly buff) your Grot Stabbas. Proudly standing on a boss-fungus. Symbol of the moon to embody the power of the Bad Moon god and show status. Printed end papers have a moody B&W version of an interior piece. Look, any image where Stormcast are fighting Squigs is going to be mildly funny, no matter how its drawn and this ultra-dark B&W version is... I don't know, there is maybe a mild layer of irony there. And we now have the Loonking’s warscroll – very resilient for a grot with 6 wounds and a 5+ then 4+ save. There are a mountain of warscrolls here, so this isn’t an exhaustive list of everything in the book and everything that’s changed. Heroes

Big, strong, stupid and stupidly tough, troggoths hit hard and can regenerate any wounds they have suffered. The mighty Dankhold Troggoths and Dankhold Trogbosses are colossal, ancient creatures that are even harder to kill than other troggoths, and their odiferous presence improves the bravery of nearby Gitz. Armed with grot bows, stabbin’ stikkas, and the slavering, toxic jaws of their snarlfang partners in crime, these gobbos are great at flanking enemy positions and finishing off wounded targets, thanks to their cruel ability to Smell Weakness. The Beasts of Chaos are anarchy incarnate, mustering massive brayherds to assault civilisation itself. Their new battletome sees them charge headfirst into the latest edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar, with updated warscrolls, pitched battle profiles, and new Path to Glory rules – truly a bounty worthy of the Dark Gods. I haven’t forgotten about that list of things I would do for December, I will still do them. But I was reading this and wanted to talk about it.)Roll 2 dice instead of 1 when making a brewing roll for this shroom. For each dice that is a 6, also reduce your volatility score by 1 (to a minimum of 0). There are so many cool touches on this model, including that the moon on his staff is a mushroom and the pygmy helper squigs carrying his cloak. The pose of the model definitely apes royalty (whether of the royal family or beauty queen style). Stormcast Eternals • Orruk Warclans • Maggotkin of Nurgle • Fyreslayers • Idoneth Deepkin • Nighthaunt • Daughters of Khaine • Skaven • Sylvaneth • Disciples of Tzeentch • Sons of Behemat • Lumineth Realm-lords • Ogor Mawtribes • Slaves to Darkness • Beasts of Chaos • Gloomspite Gitz • Kharadron Overlords • Blades of Khorne • Hedonites of Slaanesh • Ossiarch Bonereapers • Soulblight Gravelords • Seraphon • Cities of Sigmar • Flesh-Eater Courts I’ll touch on these in more detail in our parts of the preview series. Available playstyles – horde / alpha bunker / combat speed heavy squigs / mortal wound swarm / casting heavy

Not to be outdone, the diminutive loons of the Gloomspite Gitz are also dragging an updated battletome into the light of day, full of detailed histories of their tribes and their strange origins, plus their surge in power through the Era of the Beast. It has the usual set of rules for subfactions, relics, and magic, as well as warscrolls, battleplans, and all the other good stuff.Gloomspite’s command traits have two selections, one available to all grots and one for the Dankhold Troggboss. They are all really powerful options, from the ability ( The Clammy Hand) to use twice per turn the Moonclan Lair ability of the Loonshrine (that allows to resurrect half of a slain unit) to the ability ( Fight Another Day) of Loonbosses to retreat after fighting or wizards to cast an extra spell when under the Bad Moon influence ( Loon-touched). And Troggbosses are not inferior, as they can become Monsters with 2 more wounds ( Alpha Trogg) or add to the list a Gloomspite endless spell without paying its cost value and attempt to summon it as if they were wizards ( Loonskin).
