Honestly, I think chapter 26 and 27 had the fewest amount of Harry Potter references in them, and good - which, by the way? Felton’s self-deprecating humor kept us smiling, and his disarming honesty made us feel for his struggles, as he shows us that fame isn’t always as rosy as it may seem. I should say that, first and foremost, I'm reading Beyond the Wand coming off of Jennette McCurdy's I'm Glad My Mom Died. But as it became clear after finishing this book, he’s actually self-obsessed and probably even narcissistic d-bag.I, of course, picked up this book as someone who has been a Harry Potter fan since I was a teenager. For many who were in the fandom or have attended fancons he's done, it's not strictly new, but regardless offers a good time.

Since my daughter and I read the Harry Potter books together a few years ago I thought it'd be nice to read this one together. For the next ten years, he was at the center of a huge pop culture phenomenon, and yet in between filming, he would go back to being a normal teenager trying to fit into a normal school.

It was just that time in your life where reading was suddenly not something that was that cool to do. i really enjoyed hearing more about his life, and his experience portraying draco malfoy in the harry potter films. He’s open about his relationships with his former castmates (most notably, Emma Watson), and he has great anecdotes featuring the legends he’s acted alongside such as Dame Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, and Gary Oldman.Draco was definitely one of my first big crushes, I got to meet Tom Felton at Fan Expo in high school (I still have the autograph and photo op in a binder somewhere), and I watched a lot of movies I really didn't enjoy just because Tom Felton was in them. it was such a treat to hear stories about the cast members, and it was heartwarming to hear how highly he spoke of all of them. My family, and obviously the other Potter cast members, when I sent them the stories to say, "Remember this? Our situations aren’t exactly the same, but knowing that someone I look up to has struggled with mental illness helps me feel less alone in my struggles.
