The Pure Elan Connect+ isn’t really designed for parties or even BBQs, although it does a reasonable job outdoors. However, even with basic stereo imaging from its two speakers, the 3W units don’t provide much power.
DAB/DAB+ radio is the broadcasting and reception technology of the future. The quality of the signal and, as a consequence, of the music received, is significantly better than that of FM radios. Even though DAB/DAB+ radios work without long antennae, their signal is much more stable and easier to receive. The USP here is IPX7 waterproofing, which makes this a particularly good option for travelling or for poolside listening: where many portable speakers are splash-proof, the Tuner 2 is much more protected against accidental drops and deluges.Perfect by the sink, by a pool, at the beach, or if it's in danger of getting hosed while you're watering the garden. We also liked its unusually small depth; measuring 115 x 82 x 247mm, it’s far less dominating on a kitchen workshop than some rival DABs. As of December 2020 the Pure Elan One is the cheapest digital radio we can find from the brand. Sound quality from the Pure Elan OneLike some of the other Pure digital radio products, the device benefits from a bespoke full-range speaker powered via a digital amplifier for cleaner quality. Out of the box the radio sounds reasonably good for a radio at this price. Music sounds a little bass heavy and when tuned into Heart on DAB digital radio the bass can be too imposing and the vocals sound a bit dull. To browse the list of stations the forward/Stations button has to be pressed first. This opens the list of stored stations which can be browsed by turning the rotary knob left and right. A different station can be selected by pushing in the knob. This works well but if you forget to press the Stations button first you’ll find yourself changing the volume. At the same time, although you can’t stream your content to the device via Bluetooth, you can still connect and play your own music via aux cable. As mentioned above, one of the first thing we noticed in our Pure Elan E3 review, was the fact that this device is very easy to use.
