About this deal

Apart from beautiful environments, Legend featured the right balance of action and puzzles. However, the puzzles weren’t as challenging as those in some of the earlier games, and the combat could get stale and started feeling very simplistic after a while. The game was developed by Eidos Montreal, though you probably wouldn’t have guessed it, as the gameplay remains more or less the same as the previous two titles. It features an exciting mix of action and exploration, and it even places a greater emphasis on puzzles.

Gameplay [ edit ] Lara Croft faces off against a skeleton warrior in King Heort's Tomb. Her health and choice of weaponry is visible in the top right. The second consequence of dying is an even bigger issue. The game takes all the items you have found (excluding statues and guns) off you, instead starting the player with a pre-set loadout on each level.Health Bar - This bar is displayed at the top right of the screen (only when Lara has weapons drawn or is taking damage). It shows how much health she has left. When the bar is depleted, she dies. Collect and use medipaks to restore Lara's health. (See Inventory, below.) But keep in mind that Lara's health is restored at the beginning of each new level, so don't waste medipaks near the end of a level. Finally, we have what is currently the latest main game in the series — a sequel to Rise of the Tomb Raider, known as Shadow of the Tomb Raider. And no, that naming scheme probably isn’t going away any time soon. In the version we've been playing, Lara only really encounters wolves as the bad guys during the adventure. In the arctic, they're arctic wolves. In the jungle, they're gray wolves. Hopefully as the game progresses in development the team will add variety to the enemies. The isometric design of this game is very ambitious and a little off putting at first. Despite my early reservations the isometric design really works. While there were a few deaths caused by misjudging a jump, it wasn't as common as I was expecting. Instead the isometric levels allow for a playground to utilise all of Lara's skills. Sprint Bar - If you hold the sprint (L) button while running, Lara can go faster. However, she can only sprint for a short time. When the sprint bar, shown at the top left of the screen, is depleted, you'll need to release the L button and wait for the bar to fill up before Lara can sprint again. Note that sprinting lets Lara jump farther (see Long Running Jump, above). Also, Lara can only sprint when her weapons are holstered.

Used with the control pad to make Lara run faster. See Long Running Jump (last in this section) and Sprint Bar (below). Those aren't the only reasons why the game looks terrific. Thanks to the use of 3D character models, all of Lara's actions are full of animation. The way she runs, jumps, and lands never feels choppy, which gives you a very realistic sense of movement. At the same time, her shadow reacts to whatever it is she's doing at the time, as well as to features in the environment such as bright lights or obscuring walls. The game uses a tilted 3D perspective that is most commonly seen in handheld role-playing games, but the overall effect works wonderfully here. The environments themselves are pretty large and hold secrets in every direction--which includes the vertical plane, in addition to the four standard directions. There are numerous occasions when you'll have to scale multiple platforms upward just to progress to the left or right. If there's any complaint to make about the graphics, it's that the environments don't exhibit as much detail or animation as the characters, and that the enemies tend to repeat more often than you'd like. Climb up and use Lara's hands to walk across. After the poor reception of The Angel of Darkness, the Tomb Raider IP was handed over to a new developer, Crystal Dynamics. As expected, the new team had a fresh perspective, and they delivered a game that successfully breathed new life into the franchise. We’re talking about Tomb Raider: Legend. A alone makes Lara jump straight up. If she's facing a ledge, she'll automatically grab it. (See Combo Moves, below, for more complex jumps.) A flashing 'Select' icon on-screen tells when to look in the inventory for a specific item. (For details, see Inventory, below.)

The Prophecy is a top down action adventure game. Lara can jump, climb, and vault over obstacles similar to the classic Tomb Raider games. Lara is equipped with her signature dual pistols, she also finds a pair of uzis and mystical golden guns. The Prophecy essentially plays as isometric version of Tomb Raider classic games. The game received a 3 + 1⁄ 2-out-of-5 score from GameSpy reviewer Scott Steinberg, who praised it for the aesthetic effects of the game camera, which give the illusion that the player can see into a 3-dimensional space. However, Steinberg criticized the repetitive nature of the game, as it largely consists of the player having to trigger a switch, and opening a door or shutting off a trap, only to come to the next switch and repeat it again. [5] GameSpy concluded that although the game has some merits, it falls short in terms of gameplay standards of many of its greatest assets are related to audio and visuals. Ammo Indicator - This indicator, which is just below the health bar, shows the number of rounds left in Lara's weapon. The default pistols have unlimited ammo. You can collect other types of ammo during gameplay. The game's story follows Lara Croft, attempting to retrieve three magical stones that are said to bring about the end of the world, as prophecized in the Tome of Ezekiel. Lara faces off against the evil cult, the Teg-Du-Bhorez, and their leader, The Great Grey One. Spectacular Lara meets 3D Animation - Smooth'n slinky Lara flips and twists like an acrobat and leaps to dizzying heights.
