About this deal

Likewise, the humble shuriken catapults taken to battle by Guardian Defenders are more deadly than before. On top of the Shuriken ability we showed off earlier, these elegant armaments now have longer range and more reliable Armour Penetration – someone’s clearly sharpened the shurikens.

On top of that, you’ll get all you need to run more diverse armies than ever before, with combined hosts of Asuryani, Ynnari, and Harlequins. The Aeldari have always been a multifaceted race, but now they’re bringing their full strength to bear and you can demonstrate that on the tabletop like never before. Games Workshop webstore: Guardian Defenders (saved archive, dated 26/02/22, last accessed 28th September 2023) All Guardians are trained to take and hold objectives, freeing up the skilful Aspect Warriors – like the grim Dark Reapers – to unleash Khaine’s wrath on the enemy. In fact, while they’re defending these objectives, both varieties get a neat bonus to help them drive off the warriors of lesser civilisations. The 5+ is actually really nice, and the mini Transhuman will also really help considering they are only T3. Meaning you should be able to get into range more often, but if they put a ton of fire into 1W models, we’re not sure how much it will change their survivability. New Eldar Stratagem It is a testament to the skill and technology of the Aeldari that even their civilians are capable of engaging an enemy army and emerging victorious.

40k Eldar Guardians Rules & Stats Revealed!

There’s plenty of guidance on how to paint your chosen subfaction, as well as fascinating lore on their histories, victories, and defeats. It is rare to see an Aeldari warhost without a Farseer present to guide it. These immensely powerful psykers lead the armies of their craftworld, scrying the tendrils of the future with the help of arcane runes and psychic mastery. They maximise the natural skills and power of the Aeldari, and they hinder their foes with stupefying magics and eldritch storms. Guardian Hosts Combined with their upgraded armour and the probability-twisting powers of the Strands of Fate special rule, these Serpent Scale Platforms can ensure each squad reaches its objective unscathed, ready for a deadly charge. Sufficiently large units can even bring two along for the trip, in case one suffers an unfortunate mishap along the way. With preternatural speed, their weapons sweep into the foe, chopping through limbs and joints before their adversaries can take a heavy toll in return. Storm Guardian squads invariably need to move fast, sprinting from one hotly contested strongpoint to another, and thus they forego the use of heavy weapon platforms. Codex: Eldar Craftworlds (7th Edition) (Digital Edition), pg. 59-61, 62, 70, 120-125, 131, 141-145, 156-158, 162-164, 174-175, 177, 180-191, 316-317, 319-320, 322-324, 379-380, 383-384

The Guardian rune represents the trinity that guides the Craftworld Aeldari both in their daily lives and on the field of battle. To tip the odds further in their favour, Guardians go to battle supported by anti-gravitic weapons platforms whose crews have a mandate to vanquish priority targets in a storm of firepower. Should a foe draw too near, Guardian Defenders make a fighting retreat, for their weapons are designed for accuracy on the move. While different Aeldari armies might choose to focus on specific aspects of the combat arts, they have a host of iconic units at their disposal. These are likely to be some of your mainstays. Farseer The Aeldari are a long-lived race, but in the aftermath of the Fall, they faced a slow demise, and a horrifying afterlife – for Slaanesh has staked its claim on each Aeldari soul in death. In response, the Asuryani bound themselves to soulstones, which capture their souls at their deaths to prevent Slaanesh from taking them. In times of great need, these soulstones are embedded in wraithbone constructs, so that the dead can bolster the armies of the living. There are many such constructs, including the mighty Wraithlord , the towering Wraithknight , and beyond. Fire Prism

The new kit includes options to make either a squad of Guardian Defenders (including a heavy weapon platform) or a squad of Storm Guardians, with a new addition for the latter – a Serpent’s Scale Platform. The latter deflects incoming fire, allowing your squad to stroll nonchalantly across the battlefield before slicing their way through the younger races of the galaxy. 40k Eldar Guardians Rules & Stats Revealed!

Many Guardians will serve as an infantry force, organized into squads known as Guardian Defender or Storm Squads. Others will instead form the crew for various heavy weapons and light vehicles. These include Grav Platforms, Eldar Jetbikes and War Walkers, amongst others. Larger, more specialised vehicles are piloted by crewmembers who tread a path dedicated to these war engines. Guardian Wargear & Uniforms Even Aeldari engines of war are swift and agile, including tanks like the Fire Prism , which uses an intricate crystalline matrix to focus energy into either destructive pinpoint spears of light that can pierce the most formidable armour or deadly blasts that can obliterate hordes of armoured infantry. Harlequins There are many elite units which excel at one battlefield role, rewarding an observant commander who can be flexible on the fly. Harlequins must be used with even more precision – they’re faster and deadlier yet as they caper across the warzone, but their only real armour is surprise. On some craftworlds, Ulthwé foremost amongst them, the Guardians are the most common of all Aeldari warriors. As the number of dedicated, professional Aeldari troops -- the Aspect Warriors -- in a craftworld are simply too few to meet all threats, those Aeldari dedicated to a civilian Asuryani Path serve as Guardians in battle, forming the bulk of the Craftworlder Aeldari armies.

All Guardians are armed with the signature Eldar weapon, the Shuriken Catapult, and wear Mesh Armour for protection. Each Craftworld has its distinctive style of clothing, typified by a colour or pattern. This is matched in the armour of their Guardian warhosts. Green, white or grey for Biel-Tan, blue and yellow for Alaitoc, etc. However, this does not constitute a fixed uniform throughout the Guardian Warhosts. They will field numerous variations not only between squads from the same Craftworld but even individuals within the same squad. When an Aeldari Guardian dons his "war mask," his former life is supplanted by the thrill of battle. Thoughts of peace and tranquility are replaced with the desire to destroy his foes and secure glorious victory. Where once the dulcet tones of a star-harp would stir the Aeldari's spirit, at war the wailing song of the Shuriken Catapult and the blast of grenades are the sounds that set their heart racing.

Storm Guardians

They can also be made as Storm Guardians, so there will probably be tons and tons of bits in this kit. Storm Guardians After many failed attempts to mount a giant sword onto their grav platforms, the Storm Guardians have finally hit upon a solution. By replacing the heavy weapon with a powerful shield generator, these squads can sprint across the battlefield safe in the embrace of a glowing force field. Guardians are also called upon to pilot and crew the majority of the Aeldari's many war machines, providing vital armoured support and transportation for the warhost in battle.
