About this deal

In addition to the standard RCA connections, the R1280DB also comes with an optical and coaxial connection option.

Inputs: 1 x Optical TOSLINK Input (Audio), 1 x Digital Coaxial Input (Audio), 2 x Stereo RCA Input (Audio) Sturdy spring-loaded posts accept banana plugs for solid cable connections to help keep up the premium feel of the R1700BT. Drivers: 1 x 4.57″ / 116 mm Woofer (per Speaker), 1 x 0.51″ / 13 mm Silk Dome Tweeter (per Speaker) For example, if you aren’t happy with the audio low-frequency output, you can opt for a budget subwoofer down the line which isn’t an option with the R1700BT. The Edifier R1280T and R1280DB are among the company’s best-selling bookshelf speakers. Both models have top-notch audio quality and excellent features, making them worth purchasing.

There are just a couple of things to keep in mind. The first is that these are quite a hefty upgrade for a PC. If you’re only likely to listen at low volumes, then a smaller pair of speakers that emphasises high-end detail a little more may suit you better. The action scenes in The Mandalorian are just as epic-sounding, though perhaps ever so slightly more compressed and distorted in the mids. The sound imaging is impressive though – you can actually hear where the blasters, stomps, and explosions are coming from. Even the movement of an elevator closing is apparent. Plus, there’s the tiniest bit of rumble when the Dark Troopers are marching in the last episode of season 2. Adjust the EQ using the on-board controls located on the active/powered Bluetooth speaker. Treble, bass, and volume knobs located on the side panel. The clear accessibility to on-board controls and modern functionality heighten the amiability of the R1280BD powered Bluetooth speakers. Clear and concise controls compliment the manual providing uninterrupted playtime. I feel like I’m doing the R1700BT an injustice here because its an absolutely fantastic speaker, but the R1850DB is just that little bit better with the controls. I’ve been using these speakers for about a month now, and I must say, I’m genuinely impressed! As an experienced DJ, I tend to be extremely particular about speaker audio quality, balance, and tonality.

Generally, the way it works is that the right speakers for you aren’t cheap and the cheap ones aren’t good. The pair performs best when used as a component of a surround sound system. It is rare to find a set of bookshelf speakers with impressive sound quality as the R1280DBs in the price range it is in. What’s more, they are small enough to fit on a small bookshelf or a dedicated pair of speaker stands. Key features Balanced 4-inch woofer Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” sounds richer and fuller while The Beach Boys’“Wouldn’t It Be Nice” sounds clearer and more detailed. Taylor Swift’s “The Lakes” gets more richness in her voice and better representation of the string instruments. Twin Shadow’s “To the Top,” on the other hand, has a bit more punch to it with a little more bass and better defined low-end while also keeping things on the high-end present. Perhaps most crucially, the sound is reasonably even, with no particularly prominent boost to the bass or treble. PC speakers in particular often try to use bass or treble to sound more powerful and detailed than they really are. Here, however, you just get a reasonably even sound.

Side guide

The subwoofer output is a big improvement over the R1700BT. Having a subwoofer paired with this speaker means you can take your audio setup to a whole other level. The treble performance should be a very characteristic frequency band of Edifier R1280DB. After all, many entry-level 2.0 speakers mainly focus on the bass punch effect, but it seems that there are not many that can highlight the treble impact. Personally, I’m not a huge Bluetooth fan (I happen to like wired headphones, thank you) so this didn’t really do much for me one way or another. The 2.0 PC speakers, which have not been too popular for a long time, have gradually attracted people’s attention. Edifier R1280DB undoubtedly satisfies the needs of entry-level computer music lovers very well.

The performance of the Edifier R1280DB speaker in the connection of the high, mid, and low-frequency range is relatively natural. Its accurate sound phase makes us feel very comfortable. It seems that it is not a problem to play pop music in this kind of sound, which is at least enough to satisfy most users. Conclusion One of the few slights leveled against this impressive monitor set is when you start to hit the upper ends of its volume, the speakers do start to have a fair amount of sound distortion that shows up.Due to the similarity of the other features of both speakers, there is not much difference in sound quality. Both speaker pairs sound fantastic and are very affordable. R1280t has RCA inputs only, while the R1280db has RCA inputs, optical input, coax input, and Bluetooth.
