About this deal

The Middy Arco-tech range has very clever engineering at the tip of the rods, they come equipped with something called “trigger tips” which are much softer than the tips you would usually find on a feeder rod. The thinking behind this is that the softer the tips the better hook up the rate you get, we’re not entirely sure about this but it’s the explanation behind the trigger tips. Unlike a short feeder rod, it's generally anything from 10ft-12ft long and for casting around 30-50m. This type of rod really excels for casting up to islands that are a bit further away than usual or fishing on big, commercial or natural venues. They will help improve accuracy, fish hook to land ratio and your efficiency on the bank. Best Method Feeder Rod - Preston Innovations Monster X 11ft Carp Feeder - View offer on Fishing Republic Yesterday I used the 11ft pellet waggler rod with a 3000 Shimano Sahara reel and had over thirty 6-9.5lb carp throughout the day. Only lost 2, so not a bad ratio. Was desperate for the double figure but it never came. 0.18 hypersensor (5lb in old money), 6 gram Drennan pellet waggler, size 12 Guru GPW ready tied to 15" of 9lb N-Guage and a wheel barrow full of 8mm mainline pellets. Rod was absolutely perfect handled them all no problem - and some of the carp were very very angry. Casts lovely too but I think the hypersensor line was helping in that respect. The car’s temperature gauge was showing it was only 50C out there, and to me it was even duller than another weekend without match fishing, football without a proper crowd, or the basic bloke necessity of going down the pub!

There’s no doubt that this rod is an excellent feeder but it wouldn’t be our first recommendation to new anglers. Its a bit more pricey than some of the other rods and although it compensates through its incredible technology and features, its something that we feel a lot of anglers may not use. The Daiwa N'Zon feeder is one of the best feeder fishing rods, especially when fishing for small to medium-sized fish in rivers and streams. It has a thin, lightweight pole that makes it easy to carry, but it can still hold relatively large feeders without a hitch. Large quiver tip selection – allows you to fish for a larger variety of fish at a variety of weights Parabolic Action: A rod that can bend throughout its length but stiffens towards its butt section, providing a controlled cushioning action when playing a fish. Most commercial fishery feeder rods are designed with a progressive fish playing that bends at the tip and 'powers up' along the blank as more pressure is exerted, and ideal for carp. All-round feeder rods tend to have softer 'through' or 'cushioned parabolic' fish playing actions ideal for all species of silver fish. No, you should choose a rod that best suits the distance that you want to fish at. A rod that is too long and powerful will make casting short distances with any kind of accuracy difficult and will have a poor fish-playing action. This is why all rod ranges feature models of varying lengths and powers. Perfect on commercial fisheries, these offer a forgiving blank that powers up in the butt section for dealing and landing big fish! We’re not going to bore you but rambling on about how good the finish on the rod is, Drennan is infamous for its feeder rods and builds quality and the red range rods certainly live up to that expectation. The rod feels great, it performs great, it’s built very solidly and apart from that, there isn’t much else to say. Fighting/General usage A comprehensive range of rods that are perfect for any commercial fishing as well as natural waters. Seamless actions and high quality components make them unbeatable value for money. There is a rod in the range for any situation whether its underarming a method feeder in the margin or long range casting on a big reservoir. Each feeder rod is supplied with two carbon tips, 1oz & 2oz.

The Tournament SLR feeder rods are mainly suited to mid-long-range feeder fishing. Materials like the X45X Full Shield Bias Carbon and the impeccable construction of the rod all indicate that the Tournament SLR was designed for long-range fishing. On that day I chose to use the two-piece 9ft model, one of a series of six that also includes the 12ft two-piece Method Feeder rod that’s on live test duty this time around. When it comes to choosing a medium feeder rod, there are a few things to consider. Fish won't usually hook themselves with a traditional feeder set-up, so you'll need to watch the tip to spot and hit bites. A 1oz rated tip is great for calm conditions, while 2oz-3oz might be used in wind, tow, or on a river. The more tips the rod comes with, the more versatile it'll be. The taper of the tips is important too. Soft tips which bend right through offer little resistance to shy-biting fish, but faster taper tips show up tiny tentative bites better and allow you to cast harder and further. A medium feeder rod isn't determined by its length. Rather, it's a tool that will cast modest distances for average-sized fish, with feeders around the 40-60g range. It's the best rod when bream, skimmers or smallish match-sized carp are the target, as they generally have a much more forgiving action. This helps reduce fish bumping off on the retrieve whilst allowing for easier casting at shorter ranges where a more powerful rod can cause issues with accuracy. NOT all the best rods are designed to launch a bait over the horizon – and Preston Innovations’ two new Supera SL Feeder rods are the fishing equivalent of middle-distance runners. Now, there’s no denying that graphite-built rods (basically a mixture of carbon and glass fibre) have superbly cushioned fish-playing characteristics, especially in the shorter 9ft, 10ft and 11ft lengths.

The 10-footer is preferable for tight swims at a shorter range because it is more accurate and the extended 11ft version is better distance casting. Middy is literally giving two rods inside of one! Honestly if casting if the main priority for you, this is definitely one to for. Quality The 9ft model is suited to casts up to 25 metres, the 10ft model 40 metres and the longer 11ft option capable of been fished up and around the 50-metre mark. Middy’s new innovative extension feature in this rod is a game-changer. It allows you to add an extra foot of rod on so you can turn your 10ft rod into an 11ft rod and hit further distances. We’ve owned Middy’s products for 7 or 8 years now and they’ve kept up their incredible standards in casting which is why their Arco-tech rod is one of our favorite rods. Casting Weight: 30g – Transport Length: 140cm – Weight: 158g – Handle Length: 52cm – Line rating: 4-10lb – Sections: 2Fishing for F1s could almost be a branch of the sport all on its own, thanks to the unique skills required to catch them. Casting Weight: Depending on the manufacturer, it is either the best suited or maximum total weight in grams that you should cast with your rod. You will normally find your rod will perform best at around half its total casting weight. E.g. a 120g feeder rod best suits a 60g feeder. Fish playing action: A way of describing how good a rod performs when reeling in a fish. A rod with a good fish-playing action will provide plenty of cushion to a thrashing fish, preventing hook pulls (lost fish) and line breakages.
