About this deal

Her unique spell is Blaze of the Heavens , which got me incredibly excited until I finished reading the damn thing. Casting value of 7 and 18” range for D3 mortal wounds isn’t… great, honestly, but you do add 2” to the range of the spell for every Thunderstrike unit wholly within 12”. So, if she’s in the middle of your Dominion army, this is a 32” range spell! …that still only does D3 mortal wound on a 7 to cast with no innate bonuses. When I first read this spell, I thought it was plus two damage for each unit within 12”, and was about to lose my mind at how awesome it is. Sadly, that spell only exists in the darkest recesses of my own home-brew rules. Remember that she’s a Thunderstrike unit herself, so the minimum range for this spell is always 20”. We can’t say whether or not the old points will go up, but the Dominion points don’t seem to have a fair relationship to the older book. We’ll see which changes first! Adding 10 to the number of wounds monsters have suffered when determining which row on their damage table to use can really cripple some monsters (I’m painting gargants right now and they are sad and she isn’t even nearby), but be wary of getting greedy; a bunch of monsters can more than happily yeet her into the sun even with 10 wounds ‘taken’, and remember that Mangler Squigs get better again as they take more wounds . Also, uh. Skarbarand. Yeah. Run away from him, mkay? Unit of three Praetors - Praetors are bodyguard units to Stormcast heroes, and are assigned to a hero at the start of the battle. If they are within three inches of their bound hero, whenever that hero suffers a wound, a roll determines if the hero takes the wound as normal the Praetors suffer the wound, or it is negated entirely. Fundamentally, this box feels like it’s perfectly fitted for people more or less like me – experienced Warhammer 40K hobbyists and players looking to make the hop into the Mortal Realms.

When you come to your models, the build guide here is a necessity. Games Workshop has a really good approach to the parts on their sprues. The numbers aren’t random, they are sequentially related to the models you are building.Single cast wizards are rarely anything to write home about, and she’s no exception here. Thanks to Blaze of the Heavens , predatory endless spells can’t pass across or finish a move within 3” of this unit, which is neat until you remember some of the more horrific spells (such as Warp Lightning Vortex) aren’t predatory endless spells, and there’s also no restriction on a predatory endless spell being set up within 3” of her. We’re also yet to learn if not moving a spell counts as moving it 0”, which is actually important to understand in both major Games Workshop game systems. As one familiar with any much-hyped GW release would expect, Dominion comes in a pretty hefty box. Adorned in glossy crimson and striking artwork, the Dominion box will make a fine centrepiece on anyone’s gaming shelf. Verdict: Annihlators weirdly are scarier to me on the charge and when deployed than when they hit, but the 2+ save is a tasty treat. Just don’t play any games against things with high mortal wound output, like, say, Kruleboyz. Once all the sprues are out of the way, you’ll find another divider identical to the one on top. Whilst my upper divider was in pristine condition, this one had suffered a little in the box. Unfortunately, this one would not be wall-worthy thanks for a few puncture wounds from the sharper bits of plastic atop it. Love them or hate them, these are the poster boys for the Age of Sigmar. Like Space Marines in 40K, you’re going to be getting these chaps (Sigmarines, if you will) in every major AoS release. But this time, they’ve really pushed the envelope on style.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Dominion Review - IGN

Unit coherency has been updated to be more like 40K. All models in your unit now have to be within an inch of all other models in the unit. It’s not the units themselves – they are highly detailed and look great. But in every starter box in the last half-decade or so, we’ve had really awesome Feature Units, some rank and file and then we have these. Think Chainrasps, think Necron warriors, think Poxwalkers. And, like Indomitus, it contains some of the most fantastic-looking model sculpts ever created for its game – like, we’re talking staggering stuff.

WHAT ARE THE MODELS LIKE?

These peerless leaders are the finest strategists in Sigmar’s service, wielding the forces of the Stormcast Eternals as one unstoppable war engine. Dominion has finally arrived. After being teased as part of the Sunday surprise for WarhammerFest ’21, over the subsequent months; Games Workshop has turned the hype dial up to eleven with introductory videos to the new edition making their debut on YouTube alongside painting guides, as well as flashy images of incredible new figures being bounced around the internet. Despite us likely referring to it as such below (several times) Dominion isn’t exactly a starter set in the true sense of the word. There’s no Dice, no Range Rulers, no Battle Matt.

Warhammer Preview Online: Unboxing Dominion

The book contains a run-down of the Age of Beasts, as well as the lore of each unit in the box. There’s nothing in here that’ll get you playing the game. One for the bibliophiles. The Era of the Beast has almost begun, and what better way to prepare for the glorious wars to come than with a Realmscape battlefield depicting the murky swamps and dusty, barren wastelands of Ghur? This Realmscape set includes two double-sided, fold-out, heavy-duty game boards, each 22.4″ x 30″ in size. And, if you’re already a paid-up owner of one or more 40K armies, plus well-thumbed copies of all the attendant literature, then dropping a solid chunk of change on a technically-not-compulsory AOS rulebook is likely to feel a safe enough bet. Is this not the absolute best model to come out of a starter box, ever? The sheer wow factor of this is up there in the thousands. Perhaps it’s even over 9000! (DBZ y’all). This handy set of two books contains everything aspiring generals need to face off in competitive pitched battles in Warhammer Age of Sigmar. The Pitched Battle book includes 12 new battleplans designed specifically for competitive matched play. You’ll also find updated rules for all faction-specific endless spells in the new edition, and much more besides.

IS DOMINION ANY GOOD?

Is it Legal – The majority of games are Matched Play using the General’s Handbook so you need to prepare with that in mind. The rules being easily accessible while giving a sense of balance is what draws people to this game mode, but does mean you need to follow strict army building rules too. At 2,000 points you need to field 3 battleline units, can only field up to 6 Leaders (most Heroes) and are limited on Behemoth and Artillery as well. You can ignore these if youre only in it for Path to Glory but that does have its own rules to consider. Knight-Arcanum - The Knight-Arcanum are wizards unit with access to the Blaze of Heavens spell, which can deal D3 mortal wounds to an enemy unit within eighteen inches. The range of the spell is boosted by two inches for every Thunderstrike unit within twelve inches of the Knight-Arcanum, so surround them with friendly warriors for a long-rage sniping spell. Drybrush a 2:1 mix of Vallejo Model Color Ivory and German Grey, focusing on the chest, shoulders, arms, and knees Not much clean up to do here, but there is a very noticeable join line right down the archer in the reloading pose and very little you can do about it without a lot of work. cleaning out those details requires a touch of resculpting. All this stuff will make some great pieces for basing materials or to retrofit and differentiate some of my older Stormcast units. Kruleboyz Orruks
