About this deal

Also this connection doesn't give him a telepathic link to the demon, he still needs to talk to it out loud, which makes him appear a bit crazy at times. Ryker and Kaleah both were complex characters that I wanted to figure out and really love throughout this book. I used Bugman’s Glow to suggest the texture on the softer underside of a tentacle, over the black and red zenith primer I used for the rest of this cabal. Even so, the sense of atmosphere and tension within these battles was great; I could perfectly imagine the smoke-filled air and the heat from the fire baking my skin like I was right there with Tarko trying my damnedest not to be struck down by demonfire atop the branches of a mile-high tree.

As other reviewers have said, it takes times to gain momentum, but when it does it hits you in the face like a steam train. Kaleah is a great MC and its easy to see how she views her world as a naive, young princess with no experience outside the palace. Forced onto the front lines of a war forgotten by history, Tarkosi must balance battling the royal demon bound to him with the rapid progression of the magical abilities its presence has bestowed. To say this book is entertaining would be like saying the Grand Canyon is just a hole in the ground. It's not all bonuses either, like it's still a DEMON inside his head and it's whispering does seem like it will affect him on the long run.

The primary characters, both protagonal and antagonal, are fully fleshed out, complicated and fallible. His world is lived out in the tree canopy, but these trees house whole cities within their branches, roads are high up and link one great tree to its neighbour.

The two dots left and right at the bottom of the cross and the triangle beneath are hints at the symbol’s eyes and nose of the skull. You are instantly brought into the story with a moment of suspense and excitement as you meet the main characters to this story.

So that in itself struck me as a completely fresh and different approach to worldbuilding that I had a feeling would result in endless possibilities for where this story could possibly go. No sooner had he been granted demonhood for his service in Shadespire all of a sudden the portal closed to this plain of Hell.I was planning to paint more Beastmen to take me up to 10 models, not being careful to see what my opening 100 points would look like.

I had a couple of failed attempts and the curled ends looked like tentacles to me, so the idea lead into this mini.

Whilst this did allow us plenty of time to bond with Tarko, it did slow the pace down and I felt that I started to enjoy the story a lot more once it picked up and we left Shal Gara. I don't care about the angst caused by his fellow man, because from what I see so far, the protag will be a doormat character. The climax of the book went to some unexpected places, considering this is just the first book of a trilogy, and I'm curious to see where the characters and the overall plot go from here. They are desperately trying to keep their souls and continue tactical guerilla missions, causing decent and fueling hatred between the demon schools of philosophy to keep Hell broken. The skin is Flesh-tearer Contrast Red over the Halfords red primer and highlighted with a Mephiston Red and Flesh-tearer Contrast mix.
