There was also conflict between the women; and yes some of the friendship moments were a little rah-rah and saccharine sweet, but for a popcorn thriller it worked. To what extent are the women released from the areas of their life in which they previously felt “stuck”? The first quarter is slow moving as we get to know our group of friends who are hiking together, but if you can be patient, once that backstory is laid (and this part is arguably important) the real action begins and doesn’t let up until the very last page.
