Then follows another big arc compromised of several short stories tied together by an overarching narrative and mystery. It’s a fairly basic fable about the boy who would be Prez, with stunning artwork and a wonderful way with worlds. I’ll get onto the stories at the end of the volume later on, but we open with two single-issue stories. I have read Sandman through at least four times (I've read individual storylines or even individual issues even more than that) and I will read it at least that many times again.The Absolute Sandman Volume Three is the third installment of the 5-volume hardcover slipcase edition reprinting Neil Gaiman's The Sandman ongoing series. Those following his characterisation know that there’s really only one true outcome from the course of action that the Lord Shaper must follow. After that comes Ramadan, probably my favorite single issue short story that I read in Sandman up until now. A poor condition book can still make a good reading copy but is generally not collectible unless the item is very scarce.

The interactions of Dream and Delirium in the real world are also some of the funniest parts of the whole series [10/10].

For example, I adore The Doll’s House and A Game of You, which are two of the supposedly female arcs, and I don’t feel excluded or left out (I didn’t even feel like I wasn’t the target audience). The two main plot threads in this one are the tale of Orpheus, who was fathered by Dream, and of a number of travelers, stranded at the World's End Inn, telling stories to pass the time away.

It occurs to me that the world Gaiman set up for himself was in fact the perfect tool for him: He could incorporate any mythology, religion, genre, location or time and still make it all self-consistent, hence allowing his imagination to go wherever it wanted or needed to.

I enjoyed the presence of Delerium (who has a voice in my head which doesn’t sound a lot unlike Miranda Richardson in Blackadder) and Destruction is hard not to like (modeled on Brian Blessed, so all we need is Rowan Atkinson as Dream and we’re set). There’s an interesting segment at the end of the collection where one of the characters labels the tales told as “boy’s own” stories. I elucidate on these criticisms with a little more depth in my previous reviews, so maybe you would be best to read those for grater context.There are scuffs and creases to the edges and corners of the covers and there are multiple stickers on the back cover and one on the spine. It’s a wonderful story about an individual who would not let himself be corrupted and perhaps the story to most overtly deal with that most patriotic of subconscious thoughts, the American dream.
