About this deal

You should get an instant answer on whether your application has been successful, though in some rare cases Klarna or V12 may need to look at the application in more detail. This is another category where historically Boss / Roland has reigned supreme - but there are a lot of really great alternatives. I keep meaning to snag a CE-2W - it will for sure happen one day soon as I consider that an essential - while my mainstays in this area have been the Chase Bliss Audio Warped Vinyl, and VS Audio Alchemy more recently. I really like all the selection here - and will likely get a Walrus Julianna next, the JHS Emperor and probably the PastFx Chorus Ensemble Mini. And then the Zvex Instant Lo-fi Junky Vertical Yvette Young Limited Edition, whenever and if I can get my hands on one. The Soul Shiver features three distinct modulation effects, each designed to suit a variety of playing styles. You can easily choose between chorus, vibrato, or rotary effects using the mode switch. In chorus mode, the pedal produces warm and creamy effects that are perfect for achieving psychedelic, wavy sounds. Its vibrato, on the other hand, delivers classic '60s-style fluctuating tones that range from subtle to dramatic. The rotary effect simulates the sonics of high-quality speaker cabinets, all in a compact unit. Something I don't particularly find useful on Mooer's in/outs is that they don't align on the chasis. In my particular experience this hasn't proven to be a useful thing to save space on the pedalboard, but again, it's a matter of taste. Next I added the Tech 21 NYC RotoChoir as my preferred version of that effect (medium box), and then lastly the JHS Unicorn Uni-Vibe. At a maximum I've had 6 mostly analog stand-alone modulation pedals, ahead of my digital multi-modulator - which as mentioned started as the Strymon Mobius, then Boss MD-500, then Empress Zoia, then GFI Synesthesia, and currently in that role is actually the new Boss GT-1000 CORE.

Diversity is fairly decent again - with 45 different individual brands although from not too many countries. America as always dominates - while Japan, China and Greece are well represented here too. a quality boutique uni-vibe clone sporting the same a lamp-powered LFO system as the original. The Offset knob subtly changes the way the lamp ramps up, delivering sharper or softer rise and fall of the LFO curve. This can add beautiful yet subtle new textures that expand on the classic uni-vibe sound. A second footswitch allows to switch between the pedal’s two voices (Vibe and Chorus). The Fulltone Mini DejaVibe Mk II is a popular, 18-volt, re-engineered, smaller but mono version of the original, now out of production. It keeps the signature big Speed knob that can be turned by foot. A 3-way mini-toggle switches between the original Uni-Vibe warmth and a “Modern” option (louder, brighter). There’s also a custom version of this circuit called MDV-3 Mini Deja-Vibe, which features a treadle. For Mini pedals it's between the Mooer Slow Engine and Outlaw Later Riser - when in doubt I always go for the Mooer - I have several of those, and they're usually pretty decent, and some are actually rather surprisingly good. There's no shortage of Rotary alternatives - just none of them are full-frequency stereo. They include the Alexander Chesapeake, Danelectro DBK1 Billionaire Big Spender, Dr. Scientist Mini Reverberator, Keeley Dyno My Roto, and TC Electronic B-line Vibraclone Rotary. Dawner Prince recently came out with a stereo open cabinet revolving speaker emulator called Pulse, inspired by Pink Floyd’s legendary rotary speaker Doppola and Maestro Rover RO-1. It has separate controls for slow and fast rotation speed and a mix control. Inertia knob sets the time it takes for the ramping effect to go from slow to fast, while the Distance knob mimics the distance of the virtual microphone from the speaker.

For me there is a lot of overlap between Auto-Wah and the various Filter pedals - where for that combined category my next intended acquisition is the Flower Pedals Hosta or Spaceman Artemis. For now I'm more than satisfied with the CryBaby Q-Zone and Dr Scientist Dusk in those respective roles. For a little more control, there is the Danelectro Big Spender, a popular entry in the company’s now discontinued Billionaire series, a Leslie simulator that features Chorale and Tremolo modes with a ramp control. A simple 3-knob take on Jimi Hendrix’s favorite modulation effect. Vbe mode has its own sounds and flavor consisting in a subtle pitch modulation, while Chorus mode will activate the Color knob, which changes the phase relationship of the effected signal in relation to the dry one, which slightly modifies the tone’s character depending on the setting. My first proper modulation box was the Strymon Mobius, to which I first added my sole stand-alone modulation effect then - analog harmonic tremolo - courtesy of the Chase Bliss Audio Gravitas. I so much liked the Gravitas that I acquired all 4 Chase Bliss Audio Analog Modulation pedals - with the addition of Spectre Flanger, Warped Vinyl Chorus/Vibrato and Wombtone Phaser. All analog, classic circuitry, with an interesting “Center” control for altering the balance of the sweep. Standard expression pedal input.Classic sounds with modern control. What really sets the Unicorn apart from the herd is tap tempo functionality and a speed knob for dialing in precise rhythms. A Tap/Exp in lets you plug in a TRS expression pedal or any momentary tap control. Although it’s the best-selling pedal on this list, many users report that it gives them clipping problems when connected to other pedals. We need to stress that this guide doesn’t take into account pedals that aim at recreating a more faithful Leslie effect – see this other article about the best Rotary pedals for that category. As mentioned in the intro, the original Uni-Vibe was inspired by Leslie speakers, but the approximation of its emulation transformed it into something entirely new. We, therefore, consider modern rotary emulation as a separate category not covered here. For customers in outlying areas of the country, the price of the Extended Warranty may be marginally higher, due to the potential for higher collection and redelivery transport costs. What I would really like to see in a compact Rotary pedal is the trifecta of Rotary Footswitch functions - Fast / Slow / Brake courtesy of a second footswitch - and with proper stereo input and output!
