About this deal

The palette of pond colors isn’t as narrow as you’d think, but some hues are more popular than others. Blue and Green Hues Below are some factors to consider when choosing the color of your pond. Consider Your Surroundings

The fPP is kind of uncommon as it is an unreinforced Polypropylene, You can get a fPPR which is a reinforced version but it is a little more expensive than the LLDPE R. Pond Informer is growing community of pond keepers, ecologists, and wildlife experts with a passion for all things freshwater - be it the smallest hobby pond or the largest of lakes. Our Butyl rubber and EPDM rubber materials are totally UV stable and non toxic for all forms of aquatic and plant life. Fish pond color dyes offer more flexibility but require regular applications. The upside is that you can change colors when you’re in the mood for a change. Pond color dyes also reduce maintenance, keep the water cool, and help protect fish from predators. If you’re planning on keeping Koi in your pond, the darker breed varieties such as Ghost Koi will be much easier to see when using a lighter colour pond liner.

Unfortunately, this softness comes at a price. LLDPE liners have less tensile strength than HDPE liners, meaning they’re more susceptible to length-wise deformation and tears. Geomembranes made from LLDPE are also not quite as resistant to UV rays, chemicals, and oxidation as those made from HDPE. Consequently, LLDPE liners may not be as durable when exposed to the elements (when used as recommended, LLDPE liners may last up to 36 years). LLDPE Liners On the other hand, if you plan to put water lilies in your pond, a natural-looking pond with a sandy bottom is a good choice because it provides them with the right environment to thrive. Consider the Depth of Your Pond Reinforced polyethylene (RPE) provides almost all of the same benefits as HDPE and LLDPE without many of their flaws. Because RPE is reinforced, it’s much one of the most durable liner materials you can buy; it’s certainly stronger and more puncture resistant than either LLDPE or HDPE, even though all three are made from the same plastic. RPE liners are also much thinner than HDPE, LLDPE, and liners from other materials like PVC and EPDM. Add in the fact that RPE liners can weigh up to two-thirds less than other geomembranes, and it’s easy to see why they’re easier and less expensive to ship and install in larger pieces.

Butyl (synthetic) rubber has been one of the most widely used pond liner materials in the UK for decades. Like its synthetic rubber sibling EPDM, butyl is highly flexible and easy to mold to the tight spaces in a custom pond. Butyl liners are also very durable, as they are resilient to UV radiation, ozone, and weathering. This perhaps lends credence to the many manufacturers who claim their butyl rubber products have lifespans of up to 50 years, presumably covered (if that seems dubious to you, consider that warranties beyond 20 years are rare). Butyl geomembranes are also similar to EPDM liners in that they are nontoxic to fish and function well in both very high and low temperatures. Because most pond color dye is food safe, you can still use your pond water to irrigate your garden, including your vegetable plants. Your pets will also be safe drinking from a pond with dye.For koi pond colors, a tropical blue pond color makes the beautiful oranges, pinks, and reds of the fish stand out. Traditional Pond Colors In either case, wait at least 24 hours to see if you need to add more dye to reach your desired shade. The Pros and Cons of Using Pond Dyes It may be possible if you send a sample of the liner or a picture that I can determine what it is, but not a guarantee. Third, consider the overall style and theme of your landscape. If you have a natural, rustic landscape, a natural-looking pond color such as green or brown would fit in well. If you have a modern, minimalist landscape, a bright, bold color such as blue or red would complement the overall style.

EPDM Rubber: Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) rubber is a popular choice for blue pond liners due to its flexibility and durability. EPDM liners can easily conform to the shape of your pond, making them suitable for a variety of designs. They are also resistant to UV radiation, extreme temperatures, and punctures. Brown and gray are perfect choices to help ponds blend in with natural surroundings. A water feature made of stone appears more natural with gray or tan armor paint. These are both great options to boost the appeal of a natural water feature. Vibrant and Bold Shades Take a look at our Pond Liner Material Suitability Chart to see why our rubber really is the best possible choice to line your pond. Current Lead Times Thank you for this information. I have a pond liner that I’ve been using for about 3 years with no problems. I’m looking to buy another pond liner and attaching them together but because I bought it so long ago, I don’t remember what type it is. It is very flexible, wasn’t too expensive, seems to be durable, and, probably most telling, it has been welded together at the factory. Any suggestion as to what type of liner this is?Our flat sheet Butyl rubber pond liner carries a 20 year guarantee and has an expected working lifetime of around 50 years. To get the best out of your bespoke liner, we would recommend that all pond or lake liners are installed with a good quality pond underlay to provide protection from stones and roots. We supply AquaSHIELD protective matting in both 200gsm and 275gsm.

Once in the pond, box welded liners do not have any unsightly folds or creases that need to be hidden as you would get if using a flat sheet liner. Box welded pond liners are also manufactured with a flange around the top that can be laid under paving flags to secure the top of the liner.

The big divide in Swell Pond Liners is the material they're made from including HDPE and PVC. Each material has different properties, some are more flexible while others are more durable. It's important to know what you're looking for as you make your decision between the various liners in our range. What features should you look out for when buying Swell Pond Liners? Pond dyes inhibit the growth of algae and deter predators from catching your fish. The dyes help by clouding the water, making it difficult for predators like birds to spot fish. The dyes absorb light so that fish at the bottom are almost undetectable to birds. Some dyes are formulated to create an intense mirror-like surface on the pond, so anything that lies beneath the surface is harder to see. One of the biggest factors is the budget. The color of the pond can affect the overall cost of the pond. Ponds with dark bottoms are typically more expensive to install and maintain because they require more specialized equipment and materials. On the other hand, natural-looking ponds with sandy bottoms are typically less expensive because they require fewer materials and less specialized equipment. Pond Color Choices First, consider the natural surroundings of your pond and your garden space. The shape, materials, and color of your pond should reflect the overall style and theme of your landscape . It should also fit the tone of your home’s architecture.
