The main reason we all love orchids is for their stunning flowers, but those flowers are not present all year round. To give an orchid the best chance of blooming year after year, you need to take care of it when it isn’t flowering too. When do orchids bloom? Perhaps it is somewhat counter-intuitive that a plant that prefers poorish soil benefits greatly from some serious feeding. As with pretty much any indoor plant, orchids will benefit from good air quality and a healthy air flow. As a general rule, orchids can be fertilized once a month. However, expert growers tend to feed weekly, weakly. What does this mean? This means they fertilize orchids on a weekly basis but use only a weak concentration of nutrients.
