About this deal

Intelligent, perfectly observed, more-ish - I devoured it in two days' Poorna Bell, In Case of Emergency

Considering this, the most helpful part of this book should be that of the neurotypical teaching others how to treat people with ADHD, but Rich's part of the book was very hard to read. I kept feeling like he was talking about dogs. That whole "your ADHDer" thing that's said in almost every paragraph of the book was very painful to read. DIRTY LAUNDRY is an unfiltered look into the chaos of real life with ADHD. It will transform your self-hatred into self-acceptance, with simple tips that actually work for your brain. It will also help to educate partners, parents and friends, to help them move from frustration to patience, understanding - and love.Delicious and devious. Bose takes a scalpel to suburban family life, expertly drilling down through the Insta-perfect surface to its dark, messy core. I loved it' Tammy Cohen, The Wedding Party Made us giggle and helped us forge a much deeper connection with our friends and family with ADHD. A godsend! Davina McCall & Michael Douglas If you have ADHD - or love somebody who does - DIRTY LAUNDRY will change your life, and your relationships. Do you feel crippling shame because you struggle with cleaning, personal hygiene, or time-keeping? Do you always feel misunderstood by the people close to you and find that they get frustrated by your behaviour? That was the whole story. No fallout, no investigation, nothing. She died and the book ended. The Review: And there's earth mother Lauren Doyle, born, bred, and the butt of jokes in their village. With her disheveled partner and children who run naked in the yard, they're mostly a happy lot, though unsurprisingly ostracized for being the singular dysfunction in Ciara's immaculate world. When Lauren finds an unlikely ally in Mishti, she decides that her days of ridicule are over.

What Didn't Work: Towards the end of the book, it became quite clear who was primarily responsible for the death Ciara. While Bose attempted to throw curveballs to distract readers from the responsible individual, it was pretty obvious. Additionally, Ciara isn't a likeable character. She does horrible things to the other characters and exhibits no remorse. When she does die, I can't say that I actually cared and I'm not sure whether that was Bose's intent or not. By creating such an unlikeable character, I ended up not caring about her death which almost led to me not caring about the book as I got closer to the end. I think it's a hard balance to the balance between keeping readers invested in the story and introducing unlikeable characters and centering the narrative around them. I adored everything about this book, the cover is so eye catching and fun and gives a great initial insight into what to expect. The modern trend to become a social influencer is at the heart of the story, demonstrating how easy it is to bend the truth. If somebody seems to be perfect and have a perfect life, take it with a pinch of salt, especially in this day and age. Heartfelt anecdotes and well thought out responses filled with compassion, and emotional intelligence. Thanks to the author, Random House and NetGalley for the ARC. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review*

Don't get me wrong, it would make a good holiday read but it certainly didn't have the twists and turns of the sort of thriller I really enjoy. It was just a little too tame for me. Lauren is a target for Ciara's taunts so she's a prime suspect. I don't doubt that this book will help a lot of people with ADHD, but for myself (diagnosed with ADHD) and my boyfriend (who wants to understand my diagnosis) this book was just a bit boring and repetitive.

Mishti, Lauren& Ciara are our main characters and I did not like or care about what happened to any of them, not a one. That goes for the husbands, too. Richard Pink is a content creator behind viral social media phenomenon @ADHD_Love, where he has over 200 million global views raising awareness about ADHD. He co-authored his first book, DIRTY LAUNDRY, with his partner. He also raises awareness for victims of childhood sexual abuse via his @1_in_six platforms. Lauren Doyle is the local outcast. She's not one to follow any recent trend, and doesn't care what other people think of her, or her family. She's used to being the ostracized one, and the butt-end of everyone's jokes. Lauren doesn't have any friends, but she's okay with that because she loves her husband and her two beautiful children beyond measure. Then suddenly Lauren uncovers an incredible betrayal, now she's determined to stand up to those who have always bullied her once and for all...namely Ciara Dunphy.Overall, this is an enjoyable and entertaining novel and it’s clear Disha Bose is talented. Can’t wait to read what It IS an entertaining novel of domestic suspense, about three women, trying to hide their dirty laundry”. 🧺 And, it was a fun palette cleanser between darker reads.
