However, you still need to take this medicine carefully to get the best results from it.

The Gaviscon formulation does not enter the bloodstream. It’s a safe and effective product that’s free from gluten - with Gaviscon Peppermint Liquid containing no sugar at all. Please also talk to your doctor regarding these salt contents if you suffer or have suffered from significant kidney or heart disease, as certain salts could interfere with these diseases. Each tablet contains 160 mg (1.6 mmol) of calcium carbonate. Care needs to be taken in treating patients with hypercalcaemia, nephrocalcinosis and recurrent calcium containing renal calculi.
If you have heart disease or high blood pressure – GAVISCON PEPPERMINT TABLETS contains sodium (salt) and may worsen heart disease or high blood pressure. Sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate act as antacids, countering the problematic acid in the process. The protective barrier lasts for up to 4 hours.
Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets form a protective layer which floats above the contents of the stomach. This layer prevents stomach acid escaping from the stomach into the food pipe, thusrelieving the burning feeling of heartburn and the feeling of discomfort in the throat and mouth.Heartburn may occur following meals (e.g. when eating fatty or spicy food) or duringpregnancy, or in patients with symptoms related to an inflammation in the wall of the food pipe(e.g. difficult and/or painful swallowing, mouth sores, vomiting). Like all medicines, Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Contains sodium and calcium. If you have been advised to follow a diet restricted in either of these salts please consult your doctor before taking this product. Each chewable tablet contains 250mg sodium alginate, 133.5mg sodium hydrogen carbonate and 80mg calcium carbonate as the active ingredients. The tablets do not contain sugar or gluten. You can take this product if you are pregnant or breast-feeding... Fast soothing relief. Long lasting. Heartburn & indigestion. Sodium Alginate This medicine contains 7.5 mg aspartame in each tablet. Aspartame is hydrolysed in the gastrointestinal tract when orally ingested. One of the major hydrolysis products is phenylalanine. Due to its aspartame content this medicinal product should not be given to patients with phenylketonuria.This medicine contains sodium (5.3 mmol per two tablet dose) and calcium (1.6 mmol per two tablet dose). If you usually take Gaviscon regularly but forget to take a dose, do not double your dose the next time. Just leave out the missed dose and take your next dose as normal.
