We've saved enough between us to put down a deposit," said Beth, "and when Danny takes over from Dad—" Before I go to StarClan, there is something I must do.” His voice was stronger now. “Firestar, Onewhisker, listen. Mudclaw is a brave warrior, but he is not the right cat to lead WindClan. In these last moons we have learned that the future of our Clans lies in friendship. I want no rivalry between WindClan and ThunderClan after I am gone. We must have no enemies. But this will not happen if Mudclaw rules the Clan.” Not tonight," said Danny, not letting go of Bernie's arm as he continued to lead his friend on down the alley. Another solid story. Sterotypical characters, clichés - despite the main character being told not to use them - and no real depth to anyone. When will the Home Office realize that when judges retire, not only are they sent home for the rest of their lives, but the only people they have left to judge are their innocent wives.'

I haven't read the original so I can't tell how faithful it is, but I knew it was about a wrongfully-accused man that is sent to prison and manages to get out and seek revenge.Sadly I have to say that I found this book the weakest among the books I read by Archer . It seemed that Jeffrey Archer ran out of ideas while writing this novel ( A look alike prisoner , seriously ) . Many of the incedents in the novel are needlessly put and these incedentes slows down the pace of the story . This was the slowest moving story by Archer I have ever read . When Beth and Danny strolled into the Dunlop Arms, they found Bernie seated at a corner table with a bottle of champagne and three glasses by his side. At the end of the day, I enjoyed the cast of supporting characters: Big Al, Alex Redmayne’s father; rt. Hon. Sir Matthew Redmayne KCMG QC, who handles Danny’s case in the end…and ofcourse, the wise Scottish solicitor Mr.Fraser Munro. I felt that though the plot is not something that would make one say ... wow! now that's a new one.

Beth flagged down the cabbie as the man Bernie had felled staggered past her and disappeared into the night. put his time in prison to fine literary use, as evidenced by the 12 stellar entries in his fifth story collection, nine of Continue reading » The language is simple and yet it is brilliant in that, it takes your breath away. Whenever I think of this book, there is always one quote from it that always comes to my mind: “We all suffer in our own different ways from being prisoners of birth”. This is one of the most enjoyable audiobooks I've listened to all year. I suppose it reminded me of this author's Clifton Chronicles which I also love on audio. Similarities would be the theme of a poor young man trying to get out from under the thumb(s) of the rich. Same guy going to prison for something he didn't do, leaving behind his fiancé, at one point refusing to communicate with her again. Now, the more I think about it, the more similarities I see; yet this story stands on its own two feet.Someone once said that a brilliant mind is known by its ability to communicate a complicated subject matter in a simple manner and without losing the essence. And if you think I'm gonna call you guv when you take over from my old man," said Bernie, breaking into his thoughts, "you can forget it." Danny didn't comment. She said yes!" Danny announced triumphantly. Beth smiled as she held the diamond under the light and took a closer look. "Why don't you join us?" Danny added before she could stop him. "Great, let's meet at that wine bar off the Fulham Road—the one we went to after the Chelsea game last year. See you there, mate." Even if you've never read Archer before, this should be an enjoyable read. Lots of legal twists (the best one I did see coming) and then I do like books that focus on revenge, sweet revenge. He'd better have, 'cause gettin' spliced don't come cheap," said Bernie. "To start with, where you goin' to live?"

Jeffrey Archer was born in London and brought up in Somerset. He was educated at Wellington School, and Brasenose College, Oxford, where he was President of the University Athletics Club, and went on to run the 100 yards in 9.6 seconds for Great Britain in 1966. When Danny finally got off his knee, he took her by surprise again. He immediately began to tap a number on his mobile. Beth knew only too well who would be on the other end of the line. I knew myself broken, to burn over every refusal, to feel my blood rise at the slightest provocation, but knowing and fixing are different things.” Jeffrey Archer is not a stranger of success, being rated as one of Britain's highest paid authors. Here the talented man decides to pay homage to Alexander Dumas, creating a book similar in many cases to the legendary 'The Count of Monte Crisco.' It’s surprising that some authors/critics attempt to undermine Archer’s talent. His vocabulary is too simple, they say. Plot sequence is entirely too linear, they say. What they don’t understand is that he is foremost a STORYTELLER with the innate, almost intuitive, manner of weaving believable characters, relatable dialogue, and most importantly, outstanding plots.

Beth didn't protest; after all, Bernie was not only her brother, but Danny's oldest friend, and he'd probably already asked him to be his best man. Not a chance," said Bernie raising his glass. "You've only got me this time. To long life and West Ham winning the cup."

When we reached the beach, Leif fell to his knees with a dramatic cry. "Solid ground! I'll never take you for granted again."
