About this deal

Staying with the sleeping area, we see it will sleep 4 easily in the 2 halves of the room. It has a central divider that you can remove and create one large space. As you will probably notice from the photos, we slept 2 adults in there on this trip with no divider. There was plenty of room inside, ample space for our overnight bags, a bit of furniture and some lights, for example. The Vail® 6L is a spacious family tunnel tent, offering you a comfortable living and sleeping area in the great outdoors. Multiple entrances offer easier entry and exit in inclement conditions. The generous living area is bright and airy and provides plenty of space for dining together or storing camping equipment and bags, while the extra-large porch provides the perfect place to relax, keeping you protected from the sun and rain. Is this a tent you will grow into? Buying a family tent in anticipation of an expanding family is wise. Think about what features and designs suit you best - what is and what is not important to you as a camper. The drop down doorway at the entrance makes it easy to pop in and out as you please, without the risk of tripping hazards getting in your way, whilst the temperature is perfectly moderated by the excellent ventilation at the side and rear of the tent, also aiding in reducing any risk of condensation in the process. Those who require powered accessories needn’t worry as the abundance of zipped cable entry points combined with the multiple lantern attachment areas should provide you with plenty of options.

Additional features include barrier free access to ensure easy movement in and out of the tent, extra large bedrooms for a great night’s sleep and convenient cable openings in the tent wall that allow easy accessibility to a power source outside the tent. The Vail 4L uses fibreglass poles that are colour coded and slide into the outer sleeves easily. The pitching process took about 10 minutes, 15 if you count pegging out the guy lines too. That was with 2 of us pitching the tent, it could be done by one person but it is a lot more fiddly (something we will explain in a future article/video). The polyester flysheet has a hydrostatic head of 4,000mm as well as fully taped seams. The outer tent is also fire retardant and treated with Coleman’s UVGuard, providing SPF 50 protection from the sun’s rays. Be prepared for your camping trip to the great outdoors or festival with our guide on what to take.If you're off camping, you'll need some camping equipment to help you along the way - read our buyer's guide to find out more. VERDICT A great tent for beginners and camping veterans, with good-sized bedrooms and an airy living area Heavy rain is no match for the polyester flysheet which has a hydrostatic head of 4000mm as well as fully taped seams, this combined with the tough, integrated polyethylene groundsheet ensures a dry and bug-free interior. The flysheet is also treated with Coleman’s UVGuard™ providing SPF 50 protection from the sun’s rays. The Coleman Vail 4L has a fitted groundsheet throughout, and we brightened and warmed up our inner living area by placing some blankets on the floor (it was February). Coleman also have a lovely blanket that will fit this tent too.

Once pitched and inside, there’s plenty of head height and the tent feels really spacious. Pitching for the first time required us to install the bedroom area. It’s held in place with toggle fixings and it only took a few minutes to get the darkened sleeping pod installed. Starting at the rear and then working your way forward, it’s all pretty effortless and once it’s in, you can leave it there permanently – ready for your next outing. A fabric’s waterproof properties are measured using a rating called its hydrostatic head. If a tent has a hydrostatic head of 3000mm it means that a 3 metre column of water can be placed on its surface before any drops will show through the underside of the fabric. (The Ministry of Defence in the UK classifies fabric with a hydrostatic head of 800mm+ as waterproof). div>

Geodesic tents are kind of like upgraded dome tents. They have extra criss-crossing support poles which makes them much more adept at dealing with high winds. Because they are designed to cope with harsher weather, geodesic tents sacrifice space and are a little more complex to pitch than other styles. They are wonderful for those camping in more extreme environments but less suitable for casual campers and families.

That’s why we’ve crafted this ultimate buyer’s guide to the best 6-man tents. Here, we have a range of 6-man tents that have each received an individual award – be it value for money, clever design, or space. Coleman XXL Bedrooms are designed to be mores spacious than the average tent bedroom. Comfortably accommodating our larger double air beds, they offer plenty of space to make your camping trip more enjoyable and helping you get a better night sleep, in the great outdoors! Just like all fo the best tents you can buy, six-person and family-sized tents are extraordinarily varied. It’s simultaneously a blessing and a curse. Yes, you get an amazing range of choices, but which of the best 6-man tents to choose? Heavy rain is no match for the tent's polyester flysheet with a hydrostatic head of 4000mm, taped seams, and a tough, integrated polyethylene groundsheet. The flysheet also has Coleman’s UVGuard, providing SPF 50 protection. A cable entry point in the main tent lets you connect your electrical gadgets to the electric hook-up point and there are rings in the living and sleeping areas to hang camping lanterns from.Moving to the outer front porch, we found that there was ample room for a couple of our camping chairs and a few other bits and bobs (cooler etc.). A lovely space to sit and watch the world go by, thanks to it’s size as well as those large side windows. The living space in this tent is quite spacious, making it ideal for family camping holidays, as it has enough space for camping furniture to help keep things stored, such as an additional change of clothes. The tent's outer fabric is fire retardant, ensuring safety in emergencies. Zipper stoppers on the doors make zips easy to reach, even for children. Features of geodesic tents: capable in harsh weather; lightweight; best suited for hiking; often a pricier option. As you can see from the range of tents, it is entirely circumstantial as to what tent is right for you. Here are some important questions to consider:
