About this deal

Expect the Cleons to play a massive role in shaping Foundation's future. (Image credit: Apple TV Plus) Fans who have read Isaac Asimov’s books might think we know the direction of Foundation season 2’s story, but the source material can’t be relied on anymore. The novels have been used as a base for the TV adaptation but, by the end of last season, it had diverged from the story in those books. Foundation and Empire saw multiple publications—it also appeared in 1955 as Ace Double (but not actually paired with another book) D-125 under the title The Man Who Upset the Universe. The stories composing this volume were originally published in Astounding Magazine (with different titles) in 1945. Foundation and Empire was the second book in the Foundation trilogy. Decades later, Asimov wrote two further sequel novels and two prequels. Later writers have added authorized, and unauthorized, tales to the series.

On March 12, 2020, Apple suspended production of the show in Ireland due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [25] On October 6, filming was resumed. [26] On January 27, 2021, Goyer announced that after quarantining and receiving special waivers from the government of Malta, cast and crew members were allowed to start filming on the island. Goyer noted some filming was always planned to be conducted in Malta, however, due to new restrictions imposed in London, they moved significant portions of production to Malta. [19] Filming in Malta concluded in February 2021. [27] Filming in Tuineje, Fuerteventura (Canary Islands) was already wrapped by March 2021. [28] The production team worked in volcanic landscapes such as the Caldera de los Arrabales and Granja de Pozo Negro. [29] The production team then moved to Tenerife, where filming resumed on March 22, 2021. [30] Filming concluded in April 2021 after 19 months. [31] As we know, Demerzel was the one who hired the Blind Angels to make an attempt on Day's life. Day wanted to marry Sareth and father his own children, which would've ended the Cleonic dynasty. This plan went against the directives Cleon I gave Demerzel – remember, she's a robot – centuries earlier, which included maintaining that dynasty. Long story short: Demerzel planned to set up Sareth as Day's would-be murderer and execute her to preserve the status quo. In 1995, Donald Kingsbury wrote "Historical Crisis", which he later expanded into a novel, Psychohistorical Crisis. It takes place about 2,000 years after Foundation, after the founding of the Second Galactic Empire. It is set in the same fictional universe as the Foundation series, in considerable detail, but with virtually all Foundation-specific names either changed (e.g., Kalgan becomes Lakgan), or avoided (psychohistory is created by an unnamed, but often-referenced Founder). The novel explores the ideas of psychohistory in a number of new directions, inspired by more recent developments in mathematics and computer science, as well as by new ideas in science fiction itself. In fact, the 50 were volunteers who sacrificed themselves so that humanity's collective behavior would once again be predictable and follow the mathematics of the Seldon Plan. The Second Foundation itself, however, is finally revealed to be located on the former Imperial homeworld of Trantor. The clue "at Star's End" was not a physical clue, but was instead based on an old saying, "All roads lead to Trantor, and that is where all stars end." The Darells are left on Trantor. The Mule leaves to reign over the Foundation and the rest of his new empire. The existence of the Second Foundation, as an organization centered on the science of psychology and mentalics, in contrast to the Foundation's focus on physical sciences, is now known to the Darells and the Mule. Now that the Mule has conquered the Foundation, he is the most powerful force in the galaxy, and the Second Foundation is the only threat to his eventual reign over the entire galaxy. The Mule promises that he will find the Second Foundation, while Bayta asserts that it has already prepared for him and thus that he will not have enough time before the Second Foundation reacts. During the 2006–2007 Marvel Comics Civil War crossover storyline, in Fantastic Four #542 Mister Fantastic revealed his own attempt to develop psychohistory, saying he was inspired after reading the Foundation series. Toran and Bayta Darell, Husband and wife, Bayta a former citizen of The Foundation, Toran a trader of the periphery planet of Haven. In 1998, the novel Spectre (part of the Shatnerverse series) by William Shatner and Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens states that the Mirror Universe divergent path has been studied by the Seldon Psychohistory Institute. Hari dreams of Raych, moments before him stabbing Hari on the Deliverance, and awakes aboard the Beggar and facing an apparition of Raych, which dissipates after a brief confrontation. Hari, Gaal and Salvor discuss how his organic body came to be before the Beggar enters Ignis' atmosphere, where it is hit by negative ions and crash lands on the planet. Salvor leaves the ship to investigate a possible observer. On Trantor, Sareth manages to access Cleon's bed chamber to discern how he survived the assassination attempt, and during a heated argument with Brother Day, accepts his marriage proposal. Dusk and Rue spend more time reminiscing about their past. Dusk is disturbed by the knowledge of Day's authority to conduct memory audits on him and Dawn. He visits the Memorium with Dawn to inspect their memory hoards. Sareth and Rue while inspecting the memory audit of a caregiver in the Asclepieion, discover Demerzel's robotic nature. Salvor seemingly reunites with Hugo Crast on Ignis, alive despite being presumed dead. Hari though is skeptical of Hugo, who is subsequently revealed to be a telepath, who alongside other telepaths assault the Beggar and capture Salvor, Hari, and Gaal. The trio is brought before the telepaths' leader, Tellem Bond, who reveals Ignis to be a refuge for telepaths or Mentalics, and she already seems aware of their plans for a Second Foundation.O'Keefe, Meghan (September 16, 2021).
