About this deal

I’ve often said, in the past (my twenties particularly), I’ve made some really terrible romantic choices and have been attracted to/pursued/flirted with the wrong sort of people – whether in actual relationships or flirtationships. It's perfect for fans of Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games, Claudia Gray's Defy the Stars, and Maura Milan's Ignite the Stars! Tessa’s character goes through several stages of growing up, from being almost completely isolated because of her gift to falling for an older boy in a completely new environment and everything in between. The male hero displays typical bad boy behaviour and I am not sure if this is a good message for young girls. The commentary on her side, be it the things she might have said or the conversation inside her head is absolutely captivating while the repartee between Tessa and Dastien is equally swoon worth and hysterical.

So Tessa and her family moves to Texas, where teenagers are dumb rednecks who falls for just about anything.Dastien I loved him at first he had to grow on me but once he did you couldn't shake him off, "I guess. Apart from being a strong character, Tessa has all the qualities of a leader but first she has to accept herself. Tess more often felt left out because of her condition, and when she was forced into the outer world Tess literally seemed to cave in on herself and hide.

The plot in Becoming Alpha is strange and I must say pretty left field for the stereotypical werewolf novel so that I was extremely and pleasantly surprised. She was one of those effortless types of main characters that was a true breath of fresh air, because there's nothing worse than not being able to connect with the person telling you the story. The love interest was a perfect perfecty dude that was attempted to make less perfect through his constant fuck ups as a possessive asshole. She was pretty down to earth for someone exposed to other people’s memories whenever she touched anyone/anything. The writing is fresh and relevant, and though the plot has been done before in one form or another, it’s still very entertaining.

There are many elements, tropes, devices that are found in other books reading like a mashup between Bitten and Twilight but despite the lack of originality and world building issues, the story was compelling enough that I bought the next two.See, Tessa can't touch anyone or most anything - even the slightest brush - without getting visions. It's one thing to be considered a bruja, a powerful witch that can feel the memories of people based on items that were touched by them. I also liked the fact that Tessa is mixed race, simply because you hardly ever hear about mixed race novel characters. Although they aren’t as big of players in the later books, one of the reasons I initially got hooked on this series was because of Tessa’s parents. bad vibes/energy that aren’t exactly Scriptural, but in some ways the dangers of tampering with powers you don’t understand (i.
