About this deal

I still remember the sheer joy of reading my first Patrick O’Brian book and discovering there were nineteen more in the series.

I do miss the camaraderie of the smokers’ room, as well as the lessons where their faces lit up as they understood what I was wittering on about.Citizen will fight citizen in a bloody conflict -- and Julius Caesar will be in the thick of the action. He weaves his tale between the different Greek nations capturing the tensions in their relations with each other and also among themselves. If you do not accept and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions you will be unable to complete your business on smartspot_ie. In this one the focus is the Peloponnesian War between Sparta and Athens, and the remarkable life of Pericles, the man who stood at the forefront of Athens.

The previous three books focused on Genghis Khan’s life and conquest, Khan: Empire of Silver revolves more around the life of Temujin’s children and Tsubodai’s extraordinary conquest of Europe. All of our books are 100% brand new, unread and purchased directly from the publishers in bulk allowing us to pass the huge savings on to you! Enjoy the book for what it is, a really good yarn about Ancient Greece before the much more covered period of the rise of Macedon and Alexander a little over a century on from Empire. Historical fiction is tough because there’s only so much you can do within the bounds of the actual events, and I will admit part of what I didn’t love this book is just the constant stream of negative events. His childhood experiences created the man he would become, who would not bend or allow fear or weakness in any form. One important thing to note, and surprising to me, is that Iggulden utilized a head-hopping narrative to tell the multi-perspective narration. It’s true that Genghis Khan is one of the most infamous ruler in our history, but it’s quite surprising for me that the name Tsubodai isn’t hailed as often as Genghis Khan, at least not to my knowledge. This book is generally about Pericles, Statesman and supreme Leader of Athens against their fearsome enemies of Sparta, until the outbreak of the plague, and during this leadership he's assisted at first by Ephialtes and later on by Myronides, and always not far behind Pericles there's his friend, the awesome and once banished Strategos on land and sea for Athens, Cimon. So that when the fighting is over, Julius will face the greatest threat to him yet—a man who wants Rome for himself.
