About this deal

EBC offers five brake fluid options for the market separated into two families, both of which are very different in their chemistry – glycol fluids and silicone fluids.

SILICONE BRAKE FLUID is recommended for re-fill or top-up of brake and clutch systems in all vehicles and equipment that specify a DOT 5 Silicone fluid. Silicone DOT 5, as we mentioned earlier, is not compatible with any of the other DOT fluids, nor is it able to be mixed with Mineral Oil brake fluid. This is caused by the intense heat created after prolonged, heavy brake use and has an adverse effect on the performance of the entire brake system. Please include what you were doing when this page came up and the Cloudflare Ray ID found at the bottom of this page. As Juice Lubes is a non-OE supplier, all we can do is test our products, ensure they are of the highest grade and work as intended - which is exactly what we do.It is, however, DOT 4 compatible so far as I'm aware and you simply pump out the DOT 4 and re-fill with AP 600. Now the brake fluid can no longer transfer these forces to the caliper leading to brake failure - this is known as 'fluid fade'. This is a general purpose glycol fluid with a dry boiling point of 270°C (518°F) and a minimum wet boiling point of 170°C (338°F). Unlike glycol fluids, silicone will not damage paintwork is used as standard in some high quality US-built big twin motorcycles. Its job is to transfer the input forces you create at the master cylinder (lever) to the caliper pistons.

Here you can see that silicone based DOT 5 is the odd one out and is not compatible with any other DOT brake fluid. Vehicles currently using DOT 3 and 4 fluids can be changed over easily by flushing through with new DOT 5 fluid. These are the minimum temperatures that the brake fluid must perform at before the brake fluid starts to boil, which can lead to complete brake failure. The key to web page security is known as an ‘SSL certificate’, and can be identified by the yellow padlock symbol or SSL issuing company symbol that appears in the status bar area at the bottom right hand corner of your browser window. Ensure that you choose the right brake fluid for your vehicle by always referring to the owner’s manual. When your product involves safety items you certainly would want to protect yourself from any liability issues by not endorsing the use of alternate brake fluid.

Eastern Western Motor Group Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority for credit broking and insurance distribution activities under reference number 310505 – we are a credit broker not a lender. This water content finds its way into the brake fluid via microscopic pores in brake hoses, seals, joints and seams. It's easy to understand why a huge organisation like Shimano, with their kind of budget, would want complete control over the production of their brake fluid. The Dry Boiling Point of brake fluid refers to the boiling temperature of fresh, new brake fluid from an unopened container. It is also favoured by some owners of classic cars for vehicles which may also rarely be used on the roads.

Unlike DOT brake fluid, Mineral Oil brake fluids are not governed by any standards or regulatory body, therefore the technical information on the various substances that contribute to their make-up is usually hard to come by. Always follow individual brake manufactures instructions for the correct brake oil changing procedure. This makes it easy to identify and saves you from making the fatal mistake of introducing the wrong fluid and destroying your brake's internal seals. From that picture it's clear to see that DOT fluid is used by the vast majority of hydraulic brake manufacturers on the bike scene, however does that necessarily mean it's the best choice for users? It has a super-high boiling point to keep brakes sharp and fade-free and will perform well on the longest, nastiest of Alpine descents.

Certainly the most commonly used brake fluid in use today, due to its wide use in the automotive industry, is DOT fluid. Magura Royal Blood Mineral Oil has a ridiculously low boiling temperature when compared with its rivals in the industry. Silicone Brake Fluid is a Premium quality, fully Synthetic silicone Brake Fluid designed for use where DOT 5 Silicone brake fluids are required.

Rust and corrosion are inhibited because moisture is kept out of the system and the high boiling point of 260 degrees C is maintained throughout the life of the product therefore ensuring consistent, safe performance.
