My previous review compared this film to Nikkatsu Roman Porno and other pink film that used animals (horses, pigs, dogs, taxidermy crows. A fake snuff video shown a couple of times throughout the film contains scenes of exaggerated torture and violence, which includes: several women being whipped, a woman's breasts being cut off with a knife, several women being raped and penetrated by spikes and poles, a woman being branded, and hot tar being forced down a woman's throat. My first time seeing Laura Gemser in a movie and now I kind of want to see everything she's ever been in.

Wild to go from Jaeckin’s very classy Emmanuelle to this, which ditches the veneer of literary respectability and traditional narrative in favor of something much closer to that of an outright sex film, using Emanuelle's 'investigations' as the basis for a series of vignettes, only replacing the cumshots with shock after shock after shock. If you are offended quiet easy then stay away from this but if you are like me and have titles in your collection like Thriller - a Cruel Picture and Ms 45, August underground's Mordum and Sinful Dwarf (xxx) version then this is for you i won't tell you anything you just need to see it.Ultra violence (our intrepid heroine is investigating the Snuff underground and the decadence of The Ultra Elite) and all sorts of sexual shenanigans - too many to be cataloged here. She escapes by seducing, drugging and raping the resort's lesbian director and getting into the cab of the chauffeur with whom she came. There, model Janet talks about her boyfriend Tony, a virgin philosopher who thinks sex is the root of all of modern society's evils. Pretty fun stuff for my first dip into the world of Emanuelle, and SO much more explicit than I expected! There’s a fun scene in the film where Gemser’s character brings Tinti and his wife together, and she exits the room with this adorable smirk on her face. At a party in the mansion, Emanuelle learns of a Caribbean island resort which offers beautiful men to sex-starved women. A future where sexploitation and softcore didn't die to hardcore, but could fuse together to new heights.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Planning to investigate billionaire Van Darren, Emanuelle visits a boxing gymnasium, where Joe, a former fighter turned trainer after being replaced as Van Darren's bodyguard, provides her with false papers. This is probably about as extreme as exploitation gets (even when compared to such gory masterpieces as Nekromantik and Cannibal Holocaust).

According to the entertaining and informed commentary, those shocking scenes inspired Cronenberg's Videodrome. Alone with Van Darren, Emanuelle ridicules him for his power-centered and money-centered approach to sex. Emanuelle is an very likeable character, often gracing those around her with an endearing sense of wit to get out of all sorts of sticky situations (pun unintended). Never averse to shedding her clothes in pursuit of a good story, Emanuelle arrives in America with a mission to expose the sizzling inner secrets of the jet set at play.The crazy thing : this film is an Italian-French coproduction, but impossible to find it in France : Studio Canal, owner of the rights, is afraid to compete with the official Emmanuelle series with Sylvia Kristel, another of their properties. All in all despite this film's notoriety, I don't think its worth wading through the majority of boring bits to get to the one or two juicy bits.
